THE EXPRESS. Till. Express is the tit m dcleiuler ami advo c tie of the right.- and iutervsU of the people ol all i-tassCs, aud the unrelenting opponent ol all rings, cliques or combinations organized to defeat the popular will in polities or to iujutc any class of citizens materially. Cartersville, July 6. 1877. NOTIC K TO SCBBCRIUEHB. Subscribers flirdin<r one cross tu irk opposite their names arc notified that they owe lb two dollars for Tub Express. Those finding hr<> cross marks are notitlct! they owe four dollars, and we w ant them lo pay up. Wc need i'. f<" we cannot publish a paper without money. ■\Ve have determined to adopt the cash system hereafter, and rt quire payment in advance. It i; tlie only true way to conduct a newspaper. Now that a bountiful 1 a vest isgarucred, we want cvciy delinquent subscriber to come l< ward and settle up. Look out for the cros* nutrk.l, and don’t neglect to act at oner. V. H. C. WILLINGHAM. OUR WHEAT MARKET. (la teravlll© i* Beating Koine all Hollow in the I’rlce of Wheat. After till Cariersville is a better wheat market than Rome. We clip the following paragraph from the Rome Courier of Tuesday last. There has been a material decline in wheat in the last few days. Up to this time—July 2nd we know of no sales less than $1.30 for goo I wheat, but no sales were efl'eo.ted yesterday at that price, and buyers are only offering $1.20 to $1.25. This is for red. White would command about 10 or 15 cents more. On yesterday, Thursday,w heat was selling in this market at from $1:30 to $1:40. These figures are sufficient to induce every body to bring their wheat to Cartersville to sell to our liberal buyers Mr. Sam Milam bought a Floyd county man’s w’heat crop on Wednesday, and our other buyers are offering the very last cent they can for wheat. Home will have to hide her diminished head in the wheat market when she bucks up against Cartersville. Just think of it! Rome buyers ware jffering only $1:20 to $1:25 as early as Monday last, and Cartersville as late as yesterday, was giving from $1:30 to $1:40 for wheat! Friends, bring your wheat to Cartersville, if you want the best prices. Ktowuh Library mill Debating Society, We, the undersigned, are author ized bv the above named society, to respectfully extend an invitation to the public to attend their meetings, which are held at the Cartersville Female Seminary every Monday evening. Theo. M. Smith, S. D. Wikle, S. K. Attaway. Only a Half Sheet. It is impossible to get country printers to work Christmas and Fourth of July week§. They claim holiday twice a year. This is our excuse for sending out a half sheet this week. Fifty numbers a year of such a paper as The Express is worth more than two dollars. The Russian court invited Dr. Ayer and his family to the Arch duke’s wedding in the Royal Palace. This distinction was awarded him not only because he was an American but also because his name as a physi cian had become favorably known in Russia on its passage round the world. —Pueulo (C ol.) People. / Our Schools. We lay over for publication several accounts of school exhibitions. We prefer to give these in a better paper than a half sheet. Our advertising friends among tlie school teachers shall always be attended to in these columns, and we intend to do it if we can. Dentil of au old Citizen. Dr. Samuel Clayton, of this city, died at his residence here at about 1 o’clock Saturday morning last, after an illness of several months. He was one of our most suDst-mtial citizens. A better notice of his death will appear next week. Change of Day of Publication. The mountain mail having been changed so as to leave here on Thurs day morning, we shall hereafter pub lish The '.Express on Thursday morning. This we do to give our up country subscribers our paper as fresh as we can. Wanted—every one tube free from pimples, blotches, boils, etc., which can be done by purifying the blood with Dr. Bull’s blood mixture. Used everywhere. Ascension Church. Rev. Mr. Reese will hold divine services at Ascension (Episcopal*) Church on next Sunday. The pub lic of Cartersville is respectfully in vited to attend. Xew Hooks. “Mark Twain's Scrap Book,” “Dot and Dime,” “Scripture Club of Valley Rest,” “Barton Experiment,” “Trutup Kurds,” by Josli Billings, and a number of best cheap novels at teu cents each. H M CLAYTON & CO. Dr. J. Dickson Smith Says. “We desire to preserve the vital forces to *">id the purterbations and damaging effects oferary iictlre thereapentic agents.” That’s tlie key note to successlul practice. Very active medicine should be discarded, use mild, cooling and pleasant and pleasant purgatives, such as Bailey’s Saline Appcrieut, which is nature’s own remedy. It only assists in curing habitual constipation, headache, acid stonach,| heartburn, etc. Is as pleasant and sparkling as soda water. Large bottle only 30 cents.
