A Horrible Death.
On last W* dn-sday afternoon *
most horrible death occuied on the
fi<rra of Mr. Wash Pruett, who
lives iu the vicinity of Salem, Ala
bama.
A negro woman about twenty
years old, had been plowing du
ring i lie day and at sundown
mounted her mule with the pur-
po«H „f returning home. After
unhitching the mule from the
plow slm left the harness on it as
whs cu ternary. Wh-n in about
half a mile of the house the mule
while walking quietly along be
came startled and jumped.The sud
den movement caused the woman
to slip ofl and iu tailing she caught
•me fo*.t in a truce chaiu and fell
with her head down. At first the

around became frightened and set
oft at high speed. The poor wo
man was unalhe to liberate herself,
and for halt a miljshe was carried
along utterly helpless, one foot
