COVINGTON, GA., OCT. 24, 1893.
TURN TIIE MONEY LOOSE.
Everyone should turn their sur*
plus money loose and keep it circus
Jnling.
That is the way to bring relief to
our seel ion.
There ought to be plenty of money
in circulation now as the cotton
crop is at least one-third marketed.
Those who have money should
not lock it up, but pay their debts
with it, and thus keep it in circula'
trio.
The hoarding of money is one of
the main causes of our present great
financial depression.
When money is looked up, it is
withdrawn from circulation, and the
volume of the circulating medium is
likewise greally reduced.
If everybody would turn their
surplus money loose, it would soon
make things lively about Covington.
And so it would be all over the
connlry.
It would restore business to its
normal contilion much quicker than
the unconditional repeal of the Sher¬
man act.
Th.en, we repeat, that thoso who
have a surplus amount of money, be
il ever so small or great, should turn
ii lovse and put it in circulation.
There is no longer any reason for
locking up money. The crops are
all being gathered, and CulLon is
bjing rapidly marketed.
This ought to make mono}’ easy
nr:d plentiful. But it it is li cked up,
it will do no g< od to the general
business community.
We hope, therefore, everyone
who has money liid away in their
old stockings will bring il out

A Boston benevolent society has
undertaken tbe work of assisting
in tbe deportation of eonsumptivts
unable to pay their own expenses,
to more favorable climates, Tbe
harsh climate of Massachusetts is
peculiarly trying to the throat and
lungs, and the death rate from the
disease is far in excess of that from
any other cause. The Boston phys
sicians have been paying special ats
tention to it of late, and tbe theory
that consumption is contagious is
generally' accepted. By removing
consumptives, therefore, to a dryer
and milder climate not only will tbe
life of the patient be prolonged, but
a source of deadly 7 peril removtd
from the family of the sufferer.
