• Jasper: The warm spring sun of the
last few weeks had Us effect upou this
village—its rays shown upon the broad
shoulders of Jasper’s heroes, and warmod
that Anglo-Saxon blood that courses their
veins, until the whole nervous system was
so electrified, that the brain’s battery
could no longer be controlled, and conse
quently the lingmil cable began to traus
mat, from ear to ear, telegrams from tbe

Richer, 1 won’t have yours, said each
respective messenger, and it seemed that
liottiing short of a score of teachers could
supply the wants of this “e pluribus
unum” school philanthropy, “so to
speak.” But the weather has changed, and
again the wind is from the north, and at
this writing we are moving on reasonably
quiet with only two schools in this im
mense metropolis, from which schools,
forty young American minds (how insuffi
cient the number of teachers for such a
task) are to he stored with literaly lore.
It is earnestly hoped that by next time, a
I>lan can be conceived, by which each
family can be supplied with a half dozen
teachers, respectively, and that, too, with
teachers who are socially, politically and
religiously in harmony with the several
employers, and at a cost of one anil a
quarter cents per week. Let time’s swift
chariot roil, anu bring about this happy
day.

on the back of the farmer’s neck, while
the other nand seized upon a prominent
