Rev. A. C. 'Yard Ibis purchased tlie

ATLANTA NOTES.
Dr. Hawthorn says Atlanta is booked
for a healthy season since the late young
flood tiiat scoured its streets. The hack
allies and gullies have heen drenched and
the accumulated mass of filth that always
segregates about a city lias beeu swept
away. Altogether, Atlanta presents a re*
freshing appearance.
There was quite a number of visitors in
the city the last week, eager listeners tq
the pathetic words of Moody and the en'
cTilmftig sti'ams oFSSfrKSyY' 'Yntec rr;:.t
gelis'.s are indeed prodigies, when we coil'
ceiye of tlie vast and almost boundless in
fluence which these peculiar men exert
over great throngs. That man who can
hold a rapt audience of 4,000 te 0,000
people breathless by the charm of his voice
like San key must have his soul fired with
anthems of angels. That man who can
move thousands to tears with the winged
words of love and pathetic eloquence like
Moody must bear upon his heart the bur
den of wayward humanity, moved with
deep-sympathy.
The senior cljiss of Emory college was
up Saturday having their class picture
struck. They are a bevy of budding ora

history may record a great incident in
which they conspicuously figured. They
are a crowd of jolly boys, hopeful, self
reliant and ambitious.
001. W. T. Day and Sheriff Henderson
of Jasper were in the city last week.
Prof. C. C. Haley of i.udville spent ;s

Mrs. Barton, a giit<*l actress, is stopping
