Whereas, through a Way, not altogether reliable, information has reached us that un der the influence of John Gipson’s XXX the “Calm Sleepers” rested in quiet repose on their return from Brunswick; and Whereas, the said “quiet repose” was of so quiet a nature as to create in the mimfs of their many friends of a suspicion of death; and Whereas, based upon said suspicion, a re port has obtained circulation that the “Calm Sleepers,” were taking their last sleep, and whereas, we are satisfied that no truth at taches to said report, therefore Be it resolved, That it is with pleasure and an ever fond affection for the XXX that so nearly consumed the vital spark of our “Calm Sleepers,” that we announce to their many friends *he fact that they are no: dead but only slept ! A GRAND EXCURSION TO BRUNSWICK. I. _ . A Gaui Day in the “City by the Sea.” A Magnificent Ball! I Since the stirring up of our litue comma j ° * nity a short time sine.- by the arrival cf t.ie | “May Flower” and the grand music of • the. j Silver Cornet Band,” from Brunswick, we have all been most anxious to see if Bruns wick could boast of all things aV good as her music, her men and her steamer. We de termined to put her to the test, and after many efforts, which were finally crowned with success, an excursion was arranged for Friday last. The good steamer “Leon” being 1 engaged for the occasion, with canopied flats and flying pennons everything was soon in readiness to receive the guests. Th .- day dawned net so brightly as 'was de sired, but hope, Hi at "brightest and best gift in Pandora’s box, whispered to us “fleeting clouds, coming sunshine,” and so it proved. At Ba.
