Sec. 1. Be it ordained that within —mS

of the City Surueyor of said city, who shall give
his attention whenever notified so to do.
Sec. 2. Be it further ordained, that it shall be
the duty of the ownors of all improved lots in tho
City of Darien, to contract and keep in repair at
the expence of the ownors of each lot respectively*
uj>on Broad street, from Walker’s store, at tho
h ad of said street on both sides of said street to
Epjiings’ old office, pavements of brick or smooth
stone of— feet in width, well and substantially
laid, and upon all other streets in said city it shall
be the duty of each owner of an improved lot to
place down in front thereof in a substantial and
workmanlike manner a pavement, of wood, of tba
width feet and each person, tho owner, of such
lot or lots, shall in putting down the pavements
hereintofore required be bound to conform to the
levels and inclinations marked and prescribed by
the city surveyor, whose duty it shall be to grade
and stake down the place to bo paved both on tho
line of the lots and the limits hereintofore deter
mined on the street, driving a stake at every 10
feet of the line and the said surveror shall attend
within 5 days alter he is requested to do so.
Sec. 3, Be it further ordained that the Marshal
of said city shall give written notice to the owner
or owners of said wharves and wharf lots and to
the owners of all improved lots in said city of
Larien of the requirements of this ordinance and
when it is impossible to notify such owners bo
done by publication in the Daiuln Timheb Ga
zetee for thirty days, and any one or more of tho
above described persons who shall fail or refuse
to comply with tiio requirements of said ordi
notice within months shall be liable to a fino
not to exceed dollars to be enforced betore
tiie i olito court of the said city of l arien for each
day or'such neglect or refusal, and execution shall
issue against the property of such delinquent por
son or persons in tins same maimer as in other
cases for tho violation of the ordinances of said
city.
Sec. 4. Be -'t further ordained that in addition
to the penalties prescribed in the proceeding sec
tion upon the failure or refusal of any wharf own
er or ownors to put his or their wharf or wharves in
good order, or on like failure or refusal of tho
owner or owners of any improved lot or lots to
construct and keep in repair suitable pavements
in fronts ofsuch lot or lots of the character here
tofore prov ded for, it shall be. the duty of tho
marshall to give thirty days notice in writing to
all such diligent w harf or lot owners, requiring
him or them to put iu repair their wharf or
wharves or to pave in front of his or their im
proved lot or lots which notice shall be served
personally, but if such service shall be impossible
by reason of non-residence of the person or per
sons to whom the same is directed, then it shall
be his duty to publish said notice for thirty days,
in the newspaper in which the city advertising
is don. and after the expiration of said notice it
shalil bo the duty of the Chairman of the Board
of County Commissioners, as Mayor of said city,
to require the Marshall thereof to enter upon and
put in order or pave and put in repair the proper
ty of such delinquent wharf or lot owner in the
manner heretofore prescribed at his or their ex
pense, and in the name and behalf of the citv au
thorities of Darien, to bring an action at (law
against the owner or owners of the property so
repaired as aforesaid.
Sec. 5. All ordinances, or parts of ordinano
conflicting with this hereby repealed.

TO THE POBOY AND SAPELO PILOTS, CAP
tains of vessels, and steam tow-boats—On and
after the Ist of April and until the Ist of November,
1880, all vessels both foreign and coastwise, ar
riving at this port must bo inspected before land
ing freight or passengers or proceeding to their
loading births and idiots wiUdiaposo of them as
follows: Vessels having no sickness on board.no
burials on tbs passage, will be anchored as near
the yellow flag opposite the quarantine official sta
tion as may be safe and convenient. The Pilot
will notifiy the officer who will board and inspect
her. Captains of vessels coming in without a pilot
will report to tho officer immediatly on his arri
val; this order applies to ail vessels, both foreign
and coastwise, except tho following ports, (always

infected before proceeding. Jhe vessel will delay
but a few days. Pilots are cautioned”against ves
sels reporting themselves from a neighboring
port where they have only touched, but were last
from an infected port. Any vessel from any port
infected or otherwise,as she might have communi
cated at sea having fover on hoard, must proceed
at once to the Caspian or lower qurantine under
tho lead of the pilot boat, and the pilot will report
the same to tho quarantine, Doboy station officer.
The Port Physician will regularly enforce our
quarantine rules and will promptly report all viola
tions. No quarantine restrictions will be impossed
upon the Savannah and Florida steamboat* for
