FOR BALING COTTON.
AN INSURANCE AGAINST
FIRE, WASTAGE AND STEALAGE.
Bands and Ties arc a complete substi-
I tute for ropo in bailing cotton, combining the
utmost simplicity, which tbe greatest possible se
cecurity.
They are cheaper than rope—arc fastened quick
er, snd hold the bale ito J less in size. Erery
Band is long enough for the largest bale, and can
be instantaneously adapted to the size ol any bale
while in the press, as quickly and with the same
ease as ropes.
They are manufactured in Liverpool, of the best
English Iron, cut to uniform lengths of ten fe#(,
and pnt up in bundles of 35 Bands and Ties eacii
complete snd inseperable, until opened oat for use.
They are thoroughfy painted and arc not suljject
to damage ; being equally adapted to balca made
by plantation presses in every section of the coun
try, merchants in the interior may deal in them
with greater security than rope; and tbe uniformi
ty of tbe bundles enables both merchants and
planters to determined precisely bow to order
for any given number of baled*
Since the close of the war, they have been intro
duced into the Mississippi Valley andTcxas, where
they have met with great favor, and are fast su
perceeding the use of rope. The working of the
“Arrow Tie” is so simple, that the compressors of
cotton in New Orieana have been unable to
sustain themselves in their opposition to Iron
Bauds, and they are now using these Bands and
Ties, without any objection, and with entire satis
faetion.
Messrs. Baldwin A Cos., are cur regular author
ized agents in Dawson, from whom merchants and
planters may obtain the Band and Tie in any de
sired quantity at the lowest terms.
The undersigned agent for this District is pre
pared to furnish them to dealers and consumers in
