You’re starling to’day on lifc'i Journey.
Alone ca ths highway of life;
YonU meet with a thousand iemptetfons:
Koch city with evil is rife.
Thi* world is a stag® of excitement: v
There's danger wherever you go;
lint if yon are tempted in weakness.
Hare courage, my boy, to say So.
The syren’s sweet song may allure yon :
IVware of hfir canning and art;
Whenever you sec her approaching,
lie guards^ and has us to depart.
I lia billiard saloons are inviting,
Decked out.in their tinsel and show;
You may bo invited to enter—
Have courago my boy, say to No.
The bright, rnby wine may 1* offered;
No matter how tempting it bo;
From poison that stings like an adder.
My lx>y, hare the courago to flee.
The gambling halls are below you,
Their lights, how they dance to and fro;
If yon would bo tempted to enter,
Think twice, even thrice, cro you go.
In courage alone lies your safety,
When you the long journey begin,
And trust in the Heavenly Father,
Wlm will kocji you unspotted frptn »hi.
T< mptationa will go on increasing.
As streams from a rivulet flow;
Hut if you are true to manhood,
TTirvc courage, my boy, to nay No.

xious to marry because they have no J
liberty before marriage. They ore kept!
constantly under the paternal eye nntil!
given up to her husband, and then they
tako their own course. Almost as soon
as a girl is born, in the better ranks of
society, her parents begin to prepare the
dowry sho must have when she goes to
| her husband. Sho must furnish every-
! tiling for an outfit in life, even to a doz-
i en new shirts for her coming husband.
The yonng man goes to the house of his
proposed bride and counts over her
dresses, and examines the furniture, and
the wholo with his own eyes before he!
commits himself to the irrevocable lmr- j

ducted with more apparent delicacy; bnt
the fact* are ascertained with accuracy, j
the business being in the hands of a no
