Hill and Urquhart. Haddock car
ried his home precinct, Damascus,
118 to 13, while Whitchard carried
Blakely 329 to 102.
Judge Cox’s majority In Early
county was 271, the vote being 037
to 366.

MILLER WINS OUT IN RACE FOR
STATE SENATOR.
Col. A. L. Miller, of Edison, was
nominated over Mr. B. C. Ray, of
Arlington, as State Senator from the j
Ninth district. It is Calhoun’s time
to furnish the Senator. Early and
Baker will abide her choice. Col.
Miller is a splendid Christian gen
tleman.
WILKIN DEFEATS GEER.
Colquitt, Ga. —J. S. Wilkin de
feated W. I. Geer in the Representa
tive’s race in Miller county in Wed
nesday’s primary.

HINTON SATURDAY
ATLANTA, Ga. —State officials are
• showing great interest in the first
execution under the new electrocu
tion law that will take place at the
state farm next Saturday with How
ard Hinton, DeKalb county negro,
absorbing the limelight. Hinton was
convicted of assaulting a white wom
an.
The chair was shipped to the state
farm Saturday and installed Monday
by R. C. Turner, city electrician of
Atlanta, according to information
given out at the state prison com
mission offices. It will be tested
and ready for use before Saturday,
it was said.
The death chamber at the farm
has not been completed, but it will
be ready for use before Saturday, ac
cording to Jmdge T. E. Patterson,
of the prison commission. Judge
Patterson has ordered Hinton Kept
in the special cell built for the
criminally insane at the farm, under
a special guard, until the death cell
is completed.
Members of the prison commission
and several other state officials will
go to Milledgeville Saturday to wit
ness the first legal electrocution in
the state, it is said. Representative
Perkins, of Muscogee county, who
worked for the electrocution bill for
two years, has been asked to be
present.
