known in this community, as a very large
proportion of it has been done under h.s
own supervision, lie was brought up at the
business by his father, Joseph Chapman,
formerly of Cassville, whose reputation as a
mason has no parallel in this country, and
Lyman flatters himself that he can do as good
work as his father.

property of Cintarilla Scott, deceased, for
the benefit of the creditors of said deceased.

deed.) that, on the ‘23rd day of April, A. D. 1861, the
Defendant made and delivered to the Plaintiff, tils pro
missorj n<~te bearing date the day arid year afore
s .id, whereby the Defendant promised by the first day
of April next thereafter ttie date date of said note, to
pay t he Plaintiff or bearer, thesum of Three Thousand
Six Hundred and Twenty-Pour Dollars and Thirty;
One Cents, with interest flora date, for value received
and that, afterwards, on the day aid year aforesaid,
the Defendant, the better to Bfcure the payment of
said note, executed and delivered to the Plaintiff, Ids
Deed of Mortgage, whereby said Defendant mortgaged
to the Plaintiff lots of land numbers 1015, 1040 and
1016, in the 4ih District of the 3rd Section, and One-
Half of Lot Number 1009, in the 21st District of the
2nd Section of said county, containing acres,
more or less ; and, it further appearing to the Court,
that said note remains unpaid, it is, therefore,Ordered,
That the said Defendant, do pay into Court, on or be
fore the first day of the next term thereof, the princi
pal. interest and due on said note, or show cause
to the contrary, if he can ; and that, on failure of the
Defendant so to do, the Equity of Redemption in and
to said mortgaged premises be forever thereafter bar
red and foreclosed ; aud, it is further Ordered, That
this Rule be published in the Cartersville Express
once a month for four months previous to the next
term of this Court, or served on the Defendant or his
special agent or attorney, at least three months pre
vious to the next term of this Court.
