Nation’s Leaders Praise the Boy
Scouts.
A few weeks since the National
Council of the Boy Scouts of Amer
ica met in Washington, and many
members of congress and national
officers who have expressed deep
interest in the Scout movement,
were in attendance upon the con
vention.
Secretary of State Bryan and of
the Navy Daniels turned aside from
duties to speak praises of Scout
work. President Wilson was sick
at the time and had to callj off his
speech and reception at the White
House. Mr. Wilson is President of
the Scouts.
Why doesn't Toccoa have a Scout
troop? We understant that such
will be discussed at the First Bap
tist Church Sunday night.
That the Boy Scout movement is
paving the way for a better genera
tion of men was the declaration of
Secretary Daniels at a luncheon of
Washington scout masters,(Monday.
“We need such an organization as
the Boy Scouts,” he said. “Even
greater than the physical exercises
is the spirit of cleanness of life and
cleanliness of thinking.—Toccoa

Editor Eagle:
Please allow me£space in which to
thank the people, one and all, who
were so loyal to me in my recent race
for County Treasurer.
Although I was defeated, I have
the consciousness of having made a
clean race, and had I been elected,
I could have had no higher appre
ciation of the loyal support of my
many friends than I have, and shall
ever feel grateful to them for their
loyal support and generous hospital
ity extended me during my canvass.
Fraternally,
