munion ol the Methodist Church which

rience, even at an age so tender, was sub
stantial and nnot trufivc, while her con

thoughtfulness and sober consideration
much beyond her years.
Alter an excellent course o( preliminary
trail ing in a school near home, conducted
by Mr. IV licit E. Park, her father plated
Fannie in the Tuskegec Female College,
Tuskegee, Ah, under my control. She
there entered upon a aucccssiul career of
college study, and in September, 1872, was
transferred to the Huntsville Female Col
lege, Huntsville, Ala., to compute under
my care her higher education. She grad
uated in June, 1873. Her long and inti
mate residence In my family gave me the
best possible opportunity to become ae
quaiuled with her mental, moral, and so
cial characteristics, and I cau now truth
fully affi im that, out of hundreds ol young
ladies thus committed to my charge,l have
never knewu one who exhibited in a more
pleasing degree all the higher and nobler

tacked on the 20th, My, 1878, by a part
ial malady, it was soon discovered by her
stricken husband that the disease must
prove fatal. Fbe lingered eight days in
great rutfering, but not a murmur escaped
her lipcs. Her p-eci us Savior whom rhe
had early chosen and constantly reived
tailed her not in the hour of teed. The
closing scene* of her life were passed in
unconscioorness, and her agonised friends
were thereby denied the coveted privilege
of any explicit dying testimony. Th is is
the less to tie r however, sire* her
whole course ol life bad been one ol such
blameless innocency, while for ten years
past she had lived in uniform and consis
tent piety and Christian integrity. Dying
e. young, she had yet attained ilte's high
est, noblest aim, that ol glorytying God in
the rational and holy use of htr faculties
of body, soul and spirit. To her home she
had given the light of Slid piety, to her
schoolmates the (rieudship of an unpollut
ed heait, to her husband the devotion ol
undivided love, to her Hedeetner the alle
giance of a consecrated sou*. Peaceful be
her long sleep till resurrection morn shall
summon her to the full fruition t life ever
lasting, aud may tboae who watch and
weep beside her tooth, hallowed by ao
many blessed memories, find Jesus as
precious as she lonnd him, for by this tc
ken shall they lire in perpetual hope ol a
Messed reunion in cur father’s house
