Mr. Kelly ami family,of Alabama, Mr, King ami family, of Macon, Rev. W, M. Winn, of the Alabama Conference, and family are spend ing some time in our village. We had a pleasant call from Dr. lira Isliaw, of Covington, this week, and were pleased to meet our edi torial and professional brother Judge A. C. McCalls, of Conyers,on Monday, lie informs us that Col. Glenn, formerly of Lawreneeville, lias removed from Rome lo Rockdale county. ■ • *Z> • The attention of patents who have daughters to educate is called to an advertisement of the Southern Masonic Female College in another column. This institution of learn ing is located at Covington, and is so well known to most of our rea ders that it seems hardly necessary that we should do more than call attention to the advertisement. Tiie Rev. J. N, Hiadshaw, tlie President,has filled that position for a number of years, and gives emi nent satisfaction as a practical teach er. The high standard scholarship, the location and the saving of ex pense should commend the college to the attention of parents who de sire to give their daughters a colle giate education, ■ ■ .o«« Camp Meeting. —The Lawrencc ville Camp Meeting begins to-day (Wcdiu-s lay), and from the prepa rations being made, we anticipate one of the most pleasant and suc cessful meetings that lias ever been held at ties old camp ground. There has been one new tent built this summer, and we are informed that all the tents will be occupied. Mr. Harlan, the minister in charge, has invited a number of able preach ers to assist him, and expect* 'hat Dr. Harrison, of Atlanta, Dr. O. L. Smith, Rev. Miles \V. Arnold, Rev. Mr. Talks, and others, will be in attendance. Presbyterian Meeting. —The an nual General Meeting of the Pres byterian church,at Fairview, began last Friday, Rev. J. L. King was assisted by Dr. Bradshaw,President of the Masonic Female College, at Covington, and Dr. Fraser,•(>! Deea tur. The meeting was an interesting one. Several new members were added to the church. Services wcr e held at Fairview,during the day,and at Lawrence viile at night. On Sun day the sacrament of the Lord’s supper was administer*!.
