That Public Meeting. —The chairs man of the Democratic Executive Committee of this county, called a public meeting of the party on the first Tuesday, at the cornt house, to take into consideration what steps will he necessary to bring out candidates for the LegisUtuie. Tho lorn out Was so small that it was deemed inadvisable to take any steps towards bringing out candidates, or even determining whether there should be a noinina lion or not. We have had no nominations in several years, and it is questionable whether it is the best policy to make nominations for county ( ffi, cers. In olden times, when We had two political parties, and when men recognized as binding the ac lion of the party caucasses, they were deemed an important wheel in the political machinery, but in these days, when there is but one party in tire county, they cease to have that force which renders them desirable. Ilia understood tliat a meeting will be beM on Tuesday or Wednes day of court week, when the coun* j ly will be fully tepresenied, and at 'that meeting,it is expected, some 1 ine of aetioii will be marked out, ; We suppose a call for such a meet ing will be issued in time to have it generally known, so that ali par ties who feel interested may he on hand and Irtive a voice in its delibe. rations. It i* generally understood that if ; our former liepresen tatives deeire a re-election that there will be no opposition, as they did not serve out Lire time for which they had ] been elected. This seems to be the bent of public opinion, as we gather it from different sections of the county. We are not yet in (orriled whether they will be caudi* dates or not. R. H. Allen, —This gentleman needtt no introduction to our read ers, as his well-established business lias been advertised in these col umn* bef'oie. It will he seen by referring to his adv eitiseunnt, that he is mannliicturing, upon a large scale, all kinds of saddles, hri rlles. and Inii'ni'ss.ainl can supply our ginners with belting to order, We weie in liis eßiahli*hment on Snl* unlay, and were gratified to notice that-Lis business lias tn«iea*il so lapidly, Hj keeps five skilled workmen constantly emploied. and is turning out a large lot *>(' first class wmk, Ilia experiem e and la* cilities enable him to compete with any house in Upper Georgia in pri ccm. lie makes a specially of filling orders, and is brepared to In rni*li anything you want in liis line at short notice mm • fifc Cloud h( t Farr. '1 he mein* bers of the firm aie well known business men, who have an estab* lished leputation for liberal and fair dealing. They invite the pub lic to give them a trial. When men invite you to examine their goods they mean business. They purchase cotton and other produce at lull maifeet rates, aud offer as many inducements lor trade as any hoirse upon the A'r- Liue road above Atlanta. Rogers <& Junes —We invite at* teiilien to the advertisement of this new fnm at Duluth. Both of these gentlemen are fiist class business men, enterprising and reliable, In opening up a now business, they in vite their former css-tonrers to -call upon them, and desire to make the acquaintauce -ol a largo number ol new ones They not only propose to sell (heir goods at bottom prices, but will give the Atlanta juice for cot ton, less the freight, and purchase ali kinds of couutry produce. Among the many improvement* recently made upon the A r.Lin,- li. One of which .the Patent Centennial Cuke and Bread Pan, made of Russia iron, is so coustructed that you can remove your cake when baked, instantly from tbe pan, without breaking or injur ing it, and you can remove the tube, and convert into a plain bot tom pan, for bak ing jelly or plain cakes, bread, etc. An other—the Kitchen Gem—a plated wire boiler or steamer to hang inside of an ordinary iron pot,for boiling or steaming vegetables, which when done, can be removed perfectly dry. without lifting the heavy, sooty iron pot of! ol the stove, avoiding the danger of burning the hands with the steam in pouring of! the hot water, and the vegetables cannot possi bly burn if the water boils dry, ns the steamer does not touch the bottom ol the pot.
