Hieks has bought afarm from Col. B. F. Simpson, near the Ma rietta camp ground, and moved to it. Mr. Harry Haynes on last Sunday had Dr. James Manget, of Atlanta, to remove a growth from one of his eyes. Mr D. D. Dunn and family nave moved to a new house on Atlanta road in frontof Mr. Sibley’s. ; ’ Miss Olivia Bacon and Mr. J. J. Daniell will be married on February Hth, at the home of the parents of Miss Bacon, in Seneca, S. C. . Messrs. J. M. Gann and R. A. Hill are building five three-room houses on street in rear of Mr. George ¥. Mont gomery’s house. A young fellow married in the coun ty recently whose salary is ten dollars per month. A brighi ifuture for that couple! Congressman Lee has introduced a & bill for Government buildings at Ce dartown and Cartersville, carnying an appropriation of $50,000 each Rev. Dr. Brown, of Pittsburg, Pa., preeched at the Preshyterian church ‘ last Sunday morning. Dr.J. H. Patton preached at the First Presbyterian ehurch in Atlanta. Miss Ruth Towers, aged 19 years, daughter of Mr. William Towers, of Rome, died last Saturday. A Missionary Institute of the Mari etta Distriet will be held at the Metho dist church in Marietta, beginning Tuesday night, 22d inst., at 7:30 o’cloek, when a sermon will be preached by Rev. Olin King. On Wednesday morn ing, services will be held at 9 o’clock, and sermen at 11 o’clock a. m., by Rev. [. H, Miller. Preaching at night at 7:30 by Rav. W. G. Crawley. The Georgia State Sunday School As sociation will meet in Marietta 3arch 13th, 14th and 15th, 1907, A general committee composed of ladies and gentlemen from the differ ent churches, met Monday night, Jan. 7, in the pastor’s study at the Baptist church, to organize and consider ar rangements for the convention. The committee is composed of the following persons: From Methodist church—Mr. J. H. Miller, Mr. T. A. Gramling, Mr. J. J. Daniel. From Presbyterian Church—Mrs. E. L. Faw, Mrs. George Montgomery, Mr. J. W. Legg. From Episcopal church—Mr. R DeT, Lawrence, Mrs. E. W, Little, Mr. A. W, Suttles. From Baptist church—Mr. Henry Ward, Mr. John Awtrey, Mr. W. P. Stephens. Thke pastors of all the churches are aisoc members, ex-officio, of this com mittee. An organization was effected Mr. J. H. Miller being ealled to the chair and Mrs. Little being made secretary. A place of meeting was first dis cussed, and the Methodist church was lfinally decided upon as having more ‘ample accommodations than any of the others. The following committee was then selected to furnish a choir of fifty voices for music during the session: Mrs. Grist, Miss Cole, Miss Maud Fos ter, Mrs. Little.
