There is & law of the American
desert, unwritten in some of the
States but actually on the statute
books of one or two of them, that
a man shall have the right to de
mand water for himself and beast,
and eveu employ force in backing
the demand. William and Lyon
Deeplain, mining prespectors, be
came lost in the Colorado desert a
few days ago and wandered around
aimlessly. Their water supply
gave out and they suffered terri
bly from thirst. Finally they
came upon the hut of a man
named Jones, who owned the only
well within thirty miles. They
asked permission to slake their
thirst and fill their canteens. Thus
Jones denied. The brothers then
proceeded to the well for the pur
pose of filling their canteens any
how, when Jones opened fire on
them. One of the Desplains was
slightly wounded, but the other
shot Jones dead. The coroner
said the Desplains were justified
in taking water and in shooting.

“Last Fall,”” writes Mrs. S. G. Bailey, of Tun
nelton, W. Va., “I was going down by inches,
from female disease, with great pain. After tak
ing Cardui, Oh! My! How | was benefited! |
«in not well yet, but am so much better that | will
keep on taking Wine of Cardui till 1 am perfectly
cured.””’
Despite the envious attacks of jealous enemies
and rivals, Cardui still holds supreme position
today [as in the past 70 years] for the relief and
cure of female diseases. It stops pain, tones up
the organs, regulates
the functions, and aids
in the replacement of
a misplaced organ.
