dren, of Acworth, spent Saturday here
with her sister, Mrs. R. B. Malone.
Mrs. BSmith Gregan, who has been
sick with pneumonia, is able to be out
again, we are glad to state.

Mr. D. R. Little was called to Eaton
ton Saturday owing the serious illness

Judge H. D. D. Twiggs, of Savannah,
visited Mrs, Julia C. Butler and other
friends in the city last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Miller Brady have left
Los Angelas and gone to San Francisco,
where he holds a good position.
The number of men, young and old,
who do not attend any church in Mari
etta, is astonishingly large. What’s
the matter with the people?

Mrs. W. N. Grist and family, we re
gret to learn. will move to Atlanta
next Monday, having rented house, No.
3, Orange street. She will be greatly
missed in Marietta, especially in char
ity and chureh work and as vocalist
and leader of the Methodist choir. Her
bost of friends wish her the greatest
happiness and prosperity. There wil}
always be a warm welecome for her re
tarn if urging will bring her back.

The sale of the lots owned by Judge
Gober on Roswell street, last Friday,
was well attended. The E. P. Green
Real Estate Company had charge of the
gale, and Mr. Steve Johnson, of Atlan
ta, was auctioneer. Among the pur
chasers were E. L. Stringer, J. J. Black,
C. M. Bishop, 1. A. Reed, T. H. Lecroy,
and J. G. Power, of Hattiesburg, Miss.
Some of the lots sold for $4OO each.
Kennesaw Mountain towers greenly
towards the blue sky and visitors are
climbing deaily to its summit viewing
the picturesque landscape. It affords
a fine view—Marietta nestling at its
feet, Atlanta, Stone Mountain, Blue
Ridge, Lost Mountain and other points
to be seen in the distance.

Mr. Adams has sold the Model Gro
cery Score at Butlers to Mr. George
White. We regret that Mr. Adams
will return to Alabama where he has
property interests, but we are pleased
to know he will spend his summers
here.
Miss Sarah Nerma Alexander, of
Piedmont, Ala, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. N. A. Alexander, formerly of Ma
rietta, will be married on Easter at the
Episcopal clurch, Piedinont, to Mr. R,
Homer Smythe, of Phildelphia. Mr.
Ed Manning will be organist.

John Collier, white, whostabbed Pir.
Barney Dobbs, was sentenced three
years by Judge Gober, Tuesday. Mann
Porter, colored, who shot and killed a
negro named Proctor, at Mableton, was
given seven years.
Sheriff W.J. Frey has been at his
home seriously sick for the past ten
days. He is receiving good attention,
and it is hoped this clever gentlemen
and efficient officer will be restored to
health again,
Mrs. H, C. Van Sweringer, with her
son, Raymon i, on her way from Flori
da to her home in Cleveland, Ohio, is
stopping a few weeks with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Adams at Lookout
Knob, Marietta, Ga.
