GEORGIA--CoBB CoUNTY, By virtue of an order from the Court of Ordinary of said county, we, as ad ministrators of the estate of J, H. Notwithstanding the railroad agitation, the railroads are going ahead with their improvements. The Pennsylvania placed this week an order for 153,000 tons of steel rails at a cost of $4,284 - 000, the rails to be used next year; Pittsburg pig iron interests were surprised by the rush of buyers; the earnings of the United States Steel Corporation for the quarter ending March 81st showed aw in crease of nearly $4,000,000 over the same quarter last year, with a cash surplus of more than $lOO,- 000,000. Prosperity is 8o abound ing that any little artificial cheeks are like chips on the waves. The cotton tie market was open ed Thursday by the United States Steel Corporatiomn in Pittsburg, Pa., and prices advanced 10c a bundle. There are 2,500,000 bun dles of cotton ties ready for ship ment from that city to the South. Last year, the price per bundle was 85 cents. The advance, which affects the entire Southern cotton growing communities, came as a surprise. It is estimated by the steel corporation that the cotton crop will be 20 per cent. larger than that of last year. Now Atlanta is talking of a move toward ‘‘Greater Atlanta,”” with a possible population of 160,- 000 in 1910. JOBN AWTREY, Ordinary, | TRIBUTE OF RESPECT. Woodstock, Ga., April 29, 1907, To the Worshipful Master, Warden and Brethren of Woodstock Lodge, No. 246, F. A. M Dear Brethren: The committee that you appoin{ded to draft a memorial upon the life and death of our worthy brother, J, P. Boring, Past Master of our lodge, submit the follow ing: ‘Brother Boring was one of the ehar ter members of our ledge, which was then known as Little River Lodge, lo eated about two miles east of Wood steck. He served as Junior Warden and Master many years in the old lodge and as treasurer of this lodge, watchiag with jealous care over its finances and was well qualitied to fill any station in the lodge. He was a consistent and worthy member of the Methodist chureh filling with honor to himself and pleasure of the brethren, positions of honor and trust, and was one of the trustees of Woodstock Methodist church when he died. We are proud of him as a Mason and a Caristian. His social qualities were charming and we will never forget his kindly beaming eye, cheerful and honest smile, his warm and manly greeting. In so cial intercourse he was hopefu! and confiding, incapable of deception, an honest man. He Wwas of actively bouy ant spirit, ofttimes overflowing with good humor and pleasantry, but never coarse and inconsiderate of others, and his language was as chaste as that of a reficed woman. A man of kind and generous sympathies, gentle and con siderate but easiy aroused and quick to resent wrong or injustice done to oth ers. Political differences and partizan feuds did not impair his social rela tions. and he was incapable of harbor ing a spirit of resentment and revenge. We never more on earth will grasp his generous hand now cold in death, the parting pressure of which reminds us of the pulsations of a noble heart now still in death. We see in his saddened home a mournful family group, a be reaved wife and weeping children, and we mingle our tears of sympathy and afféction with those in the darkened home. We are glad of an cpportunity to pay this since.e but inadequaie tribute to his memory and believe they express the sentiments of his associates and friends wheresoever dispersed around the globe. We suggest that to rerpet uate his memory among us that there be & blank page in our minute book left sacred to his memory and that this tribate be recorded and also published in CherokeevAdvance and-the Marietta Journal.
