Mayor Dobbs says the city park wili
be closed on May 30th, Decoration day,
no occupancy or any one passing
through, as the immense crowd of ne
groes cannot be managed or controlled
or prevented. when once inside of tha
park, from tramping on the grass and
breaking' the coping. Thesa negroes
come here from Aglanta, the country
or other places, are not city tax payers,
do not contribute one cent to keeping
up the town, in beautifying the park or
keeping it in good condition, are not
interested in our town, and that he
proposes to protect the city and the
park against depredations from a crowd
of negroes who are here only for one
day, and purely for a frolia.

The death of Mrs. W. I. Goodwin oec
curred in Paradise, Texas, April Ist.
Her husband died last October. Both
of these estimable persons were former
citizens of Cobb county. Mr. J. S,
Goodwin, of this place, was her brother
in-law. .

win returned last week from a visit to

Alpert Braswell, aged fourteen years,
son of Mr, R. L. Braswell, who lives
five miles northeast of Marietta, was
bitten by his dog, which went mad five
days after. This was about two weeks
ago. The boy was bitten on the hand,
and the hand became inflamed. Mr.
Braswell carried his son to the Pasteur
Institute in Atlanta, where he is being
i treated with good results.
