Mre. Dorah F. Hames (former
ly Miss D. F. Groover) departed
this life in holy trinmph on July
21st, 1907, aged 43 years, 6 months
and 12 days. On January 22ond,
1885, the wae married to Marion
Hames, ard became the mother of
pix children, one girl and five
boys, a most happy and interest
ing family. The holy joy of mar
ried life reigned snpreme unt:l
death claimed the wife and moth
er. She wag a devoted compan
ion, a wise mother, and a true
Christian. Was converted in early
girthood &nd joined the Holly
Springs Methocist church, but was
transferred hy Bro. Olin King to
Little River church. Here she
faithfully worked until life’s day
ended. She said to ber husband
and others: “If it ‘s God’s will,
I am ready to go. His will be

Miss Blondine Webb, of Com
merce, who bas been visiting Miss
Velma Rogers, returned to her
home last Wednesday,

rie Frey visited their aunt, Mrs.
Ballard, at Octavia, last Saturday
and Sonday.

spent Sunday with her brother,

Mr. Ernest Hamby, who has
been visiting his parents for the
past two weeks, will retorn to
Florida the first part of the week.
Messre. Ernest Hamby, Carl
Hamby and Barney Blackwell
spent several days of last week
with relatives iu Adairsville,
Mr. B. T. Freyv, who is one of
New Hope's most efficient Sunday
school teachers, carried hig class
to Atlanta last Saturday. They
left Marietta at &:80 o’clock. The
first place of interest visited was
Grant’s Park. = Here the forenoon
was epent, and after a bountiful
and delicions dinner, they found
their way to White City. Only a
ghort space of time was spent here,
for each was anx.ous to reach
Ponce de Leon. When the latter
was reached, time seemed to fly
too swiftly. The remainder of the
afterncon was whiled away here.
Then after visiting some of the
tallest buildings in the city, they
again turned towards home, At 7
o’clock all were safe in Marietta,
feeling that one of their most
pleasant days had jost been spent.
Mrs. B. J. Hamby is the guest
of her son Horace, of Atlanta.
Mr. B. J. Hamby had the mis
fortune of getting his barn burned
down übout ¢ a. m. Monday,

If we ever had any good news, it
is now. A seven days meeting re
sulted in 22 conversions and many
anxious ones were at the mourn
ers bench daily. It was a union
meeting and all took interest as
we have no church here but God
fearing and in favor of prohibi
tion. Kvangelists Melvin Lacy
and John Wates will hold a tent
meeting here another year. God
bless these two young men,
Mr Frank Smith, a young man
from Illinois, last Friday in com
pany with other men, while walk
ing through the crop of Charley
Hamilton came to a barbed wire
fence, and againet the advice of
his companiong, attempted to
jump it and went headlong feli
a straddle the fence, gashing his
legs, He is now unable to walk
and is minus a pair of pants.
