Judge Gober has sold 156 acres of the
Blackwell farm,'in the Gritter district,
to Mr. Carlisle for $6,000
Dr. Field is able te be out again, we
are glad to see, but he has not fully re
covered from his injuries.
Mr. R. E. Butler has bought Mr, T.
L. Hunt’s residence on Forest avenue,
and will oceupy it for a winter Lome.

Dr. Patton was unable to reach Ma

Roesel, Captain of Staff. The next
meeting will be held in Canton on the
second Weduesday in April, 1908.

Mr. Johnnie Thompson, the rheumat
ic invalid, who has been confined help
less for some twelve or more years,
was in hia rolling chair at H. A, Ward
& Bro.’s store Thursday afternoon,
where many friends greeted him. He
had spent the day with Mr. E.JL. Faw’s
family. The *“onting’”’ was greatly ap
preciated by him as the cheerful, pleas
ant smile on his face indicated. He is
in the best of health under the excel
lent care of Mr. and Mrs. Passebois.
Miss Mabel Cantrell. one of the most
popular teachkers of the Marnetta Pub
lic School, spent her vacation in Co
laumbus, Ga., her old home, where ghe
had a most delightful time. We are
all glad to see her pleasant face again
in Marietta.
Mrs. S. K. Dick, who is at the Pied
mont Sanitarium in Atlanta, for treat
ment, is getting along nicely, which
her many friends will be glad to learn.
Mrs. W. M. Towers and Mrs. Ed Mad
dox and child of Rome, have been
spending the past few days with the
Missges 'Fowers on Lawrence street.

Mrs. John D. Northeutt and family,
after spending a number of weeks at
their summer home in Gilmer county,
have returned to the city. Mr. North
cutt will remain longer.
Mr. R. E. Butler has bought from
Mr. W. P. Mozley the Legg farm of 100
acres south of Marietta, on the car line,
and given in exchange the 80 acres that
he had reserved of the Brady farm at
Oakhurst.

Mr. B. H. Bostsin left Saturday for
New York to buy fall and winter stoek

On last Thursday evening Miss Marie
Massey entertained those on the camp
ing party who had just returned from
a weeks’ outing on the banks of Sweet.

Major J. A. Commerford, Superin
tendent of the National Cemetery here,
will leave Thureday on a trip to James
town, Washington, Adironidacks, Lake
Georgia in New York, and will be gone
several weeks,

A horse. driven to a buggy, runaway

Mr. Bob Hicks, in the buggy, fell on
top of Mr. Camp. The horse ran seven
miles before stopping. The buggy was
damaged.
Mr. Newt Rutherford is quiteill. He

many friends hope for his speedy re
covery.

informally the ‘‘Sewing Club’’ on last

Mr. Fred Barkalow and Mr. Merritt
Lyon, Jr, are taking a business course
in the Dixie Business College, Atlanta.
