There are a great many people

Oliver, of Round Oak, Ga., agri
culturist, has also arrived, and is
boarding with Mrs Babb. His
‘wife will come the first of October.
‘The college building will be ready
by the firet of the year. Prof.
Oliver sends his subscription to
the Journal. The farm work will
begin at once under his supervis
ion,
Mr aud Mrs Robert Guffin was
called to Atlanta last week to see
their son, Charlie, who is very low
of typhoid fever. His many
friends here hope for his speedy
recovery.

Mary Taylor is able to walk some

for three months

of old school days in this neigh

came to town with a letter written
to a catalogue house ready to mail
as soon as the money order was
enclosed. Just before going to the
post-office he stepped Into his lo
cal hardware dealer’s store and
gaid to the proprietor:
“Mr. Jones, I am needing a
buggy, ard I want to know if you
can sell me one as cheap as i can
buy in Chicago.”’
Mr. Jones showed him several
nice vehicles, Lut the prices were
too high.
‘‘Say, Jones,” said the farmer,
““to be plain with vou, I am goivg
to send to Chicago for a buggy
that I can buy for $44.45, 1
thonght I would give you a chunce,
but you want too much for yours.
I’ll send this order to-day.”
““Hold on,”’ said the merchant,
““I have a buggy up-stairs thav I
will sell you for $44.45 and wili
gave you the freight.””
*‘Let me see it,”’ said the farmer.
‘“Not on your life,”’ said Jones.
“You buy from Boreduck, Shears
& Co., eight uneeen, and you will
‘buy from me that way when I sell
‘that class of goods.”’
~ The farmer reconsidered, and
‘bought a buggy that would stand
’ inspection.
