Mr J J Thomas, a few days ago,
was standing in front of his mule,
when the antmal became frighten
ed and jumped against him, felling
him to the ground. Hse struck on
his head and shoulder. He did
pot think at the time that he was
hurt, and conticued at his work
all the evening, but that night his
neck began.to hurt him consider
ably, and he has been suffering a
great deal of pain ever since in his
neck and shoulder,

year’s work Therefore, it stands

The farmers are struggling for
a living price for their cotton and
it is strange some of the mer
chante and buyers are indifferent
and seem to be helping Wall
street bear the market.
[We think Allen is a little off on
the above. Our merchants can
not afford to pay any more than
the market price for cotton, no
matter who fixes it If they did
they wounld soon go into bank
ruptcy. Our Marietta huyers are
paying the very highest ruling
price, and there is 8 good deal of
competition here in the buying of
it. They want the farmer to get‘
every dollar they can for the cot
ton. The more money they getl
the more prosperons our section
