Mayor E. P. Dobbs announces him-!
self a candidate for re-election to the
office of Mayor in this issue. He has
given the city one of the pest business
administrations 1t has ever had. The
good substar.tial work done with the
people’s money, shows in visible re
sults, and is such as to receive the ap- |
proval of almost our entire people, and
it is hoped that he will have no opposi
tion but be re-elected to finish the
work that is 30 muech desired. Read

in this city, Miss Katie Taylor and Mr.
Grover Petty, both of Macland, in this
county. were married at the residence
of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Lumpkin, Rev.
J. H. Patton officiating. The bride is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H., A.
Taylor, and niece of Mrs, Lumpkin.
The groom is a brother of Mr. Will
Petty, of this city. They will reside at

Mr. Robert A. Hill announces him
self a candidate for sheriff in this issue,
and will have associated with him Mr.
P. O. McLain, of Acworth, and Mr. A,
W. Florence, of Powder Springs, as
deputies. This makes a very strong

ligent and reliable men to fill this im
portant office. Bob Hill is a good busi
ness man, cool, courageous, and of un

On last Thursday afternoon, while
tearing down the old Turner house on
Church street, the veranda fell on Mr.
J. F. Brewer, carpenter, breaking his
jawbone, cutting his nose and injuring
his side and lungs. He was carried to
his home on Winn street, where Drs.
Field and Elder attended him. The
injuries are very bad, but it is hoped he
will recover,

A very pleasant social event of last
week was the surprise party given Miss
Ruby Bishop at her homs on Church
street, on last Friday evening. A large
number of her friends were present,and
a most enjoyakle evening was spent.
