moved to Marietta from Cartersville

Mr.J. H. Carmichael, of Gilmore,
had a cornshucking one night last week
and 750 bushels of corn were shucked.

Next Sunday Rev. W. L. Pierce will
preach his last sermon before going to
Conference to meet in Cartersville on
the 20th inst. The Board of Stewards
and quarterly conference have passed
resolutiors asking for his return to Ma
rietta. Mr Pierce has served this
charge one year and there seems to be
no good reason why he should not con
tinue to serve this people. It is also
the desire of the church officially ex
pressed that Presiding Elder, Rev. T. J.
Christian, be returned. These minis
ters have been faithful and efficient.

preached two very able sermone at the
Methodist church Sunday.
Our people keep building dwellings,
expecting to keep these houses filled
with good paying renters. How can
this be done unless manufacturing in
dustries be built to give these people
employment? People must have work
or they can’t rent houses, and these
people can’t stay in Marietta unless
they have employment. We need more
small industries.
