WHAT JOE BROWN'S
l
MARierrA, GA., May 18, 1908.
To the People of Georgia:—ln view
of the great variety of attacks that have
been made upon the habits, character,
qualities and endowments of the Hon.
Joseph M. Brown, a few words from his
neighbors should not be out of place,
This is the home of Mr. Brown. He has
lived among us for seventeen years,
and, until his recent entry as a candi
date for governor, there has never been
a word against his integrity, morals,
habits or capabilities, but on the con
trary, was universally esteemed asa
man of exemplary habits, strictest
morals, rich endowments, and a Chris
tian gentleman of the highest type. No
man in our county has been more lib
eral in the support of the churches and
their interests than he. A few years
tince he gave about $3,500 to the build
ing of the Marietta Baptist church, of
which he was not a member, being a
member of the Second Baptist chureh,
Atlanta, He has always been liberal
in all charity work.
He is quiet, modest and unassuming,
but with it all a man of great firmness
in maintaining what he believes to be
right. Likewise, he is strong in stating
and defending his positions. He is
largely endowed with that discrimina
ting judgment for which his distin
guished father was so noted He has
the discretion to judge what is right,
and the firmness and power to defend it.
We believe if the people of Georgia
honor Mr. Brown, he will make them a
conservative, conscientious, impartial
and faithful governor. We bespeak for
his candidacy a favorable consideration.
Very truly yours,
