Mr. R. L. Banson, Mr. John Sanders
and Mr. Tom Smith went ’possum
hunting Thursday night, on Mr Ben
son’s farm on Powder Springs road.
The dogs started a coon and up and
down the swamp they went, over and
over again. The hunters cut down six
trees trying to capture that coon, but
he got away every time. They finally
called thedogs off and gave up the
chase. When we saw Mr. Benson last
Friday morning he was pick’ug briars
out of his arms and hands, and he was
a very busy man. He says he is going
’possum hunting again one of these
nights and he is going to disfranchise
all ‘‘coons.” ;

Cobb county will be entitled to about
twenty-eight of the felony conviets un
der the new law., As the county won’t
be able to work them, the prison com
misgion will have to dispose of them
and give Cobb county credit for them.
There will be about thirty misdemeanor
‘convicts that will be returned to Cobb
‘county on November Ist. The Ordinary
‘will have to place them with some other
‘eounty or work them.
The services at the Methodist church
continue this week—9:3o every morn
ing and 7:30 at night. Rev Nath
Thompson, North Georgia’s evangelist,
a unique character, is doifig the preach
ing. You want to hear him. ¢
Hon, Thomas E, Watson, candidate
‘for President on Populist ticket, deliv
ered a speech at Powder Springs on
Friday. He came to Marietta in the
afternoon and took the trolley car for
Atlanta. -

the prectiest display of hats this enter

milliner, Miss Amille Leiper, is the
most artistic trimmer that firm has
ever had. The ladies went wild over
the splendid creations of this expert.
The stylish and beautiful designs sold
rapidly, and better pleased customers,
you never saw. The store was erowded,
and the ladies were giving orders about
as fast as they could be taken.

ing, the rector expects to offer the peo
ple of our city the privilege of hearing

the Rev. Wm. C. Robertson, of Chatta
nooga. Further information will be
given at a later date.
