Wiley’s. ~ Mr Candler Wilson, who lives ith Mr Eli Thomas, was thrown from a bicycle last week and broke his left arm. Diep.—On Tuesday evening of last week death again visited our community and took away little Isaiah Barnes. He was about two yesrs of age, and will be greatly missed in the family. The funeral was conducted at Maloney Springs church, by Rev A J McCoy. The little body was laid to rest in the cemetery at that place. The be reaved family have our sympathy. ““We ghall meet those buds of promige, Blighted by Death’s chilling hand ; We shall see their fadeless beauty, Blooming in the Goodly Land.” Mr Franklin Fortner’s face is all out of shape, smiling over the arrival of a new baby boy at his house, and almost every time ke speaks, he says, ‘‘lt’s a boy.” Mrs D C Hamby was called to Atlanta last week tosee her daugh ter, Mrs Sewe!l, who was very sick. The next singing will be on the first Sunday in June. There will be an all-day singing at Olive Springs on the third Sun day in this month, and one at Providence on the fifth Sunday. We wish for all of these young people happy lives. Mr Walter Duncan has returned from New York. Mrs Oscar Cox and children, of Birmingham are visiting Mr. and Mrs. W. P, Johnson. Mrs H C Vorhees has again tak en charge of the Benscot hotel. Mrs Laura Runyan and Miss Ida M. Jewell have returned from a visit to relatives in Atlanta. Mrs J F Lehman, of Anniston, Ala, is visiting relatives here this week, Observer, Providence. There will be an all-day singing at New Providence on the fifth Sunday in this month. Every body invited to come and bring their books and well-filled baskets. Married, on last Sunday, Mr Jake Hendrix and Miss Lula Adams. The coupie left Sardis to get married, A heavy rain fell here last Fri day, and the creek was higher than we have ever seen it, the water covering all the bridges. Mre Bannie Roberts returned home Saturda’y from a two woeks vigit to re latives st Cnrtersville, Dorothy. The auctioneer knocks dowr al moet everything he touches, and yet nobody seems to mind it. Macland. Mr Walter Echols, who died Augusta last Tuesday week and was hrought home Wednasday, was Yorn and reared in this communi ty. He was the second son of Mr and Mrs James T Echols or this place, and was twenty-eight years of age on the day his corpse was brought home. Walter was al ways a clever, good boy, aud every body was his friend. He always had a kind word and a pleasant smile for all with whom he came in contact. He was a fine busi ness young man, and had been in business 1n Augusta for the past five years, and by his energy and catefulness had accumulated a good deal of property. He was a member of the church at Midway. And we learn that he told those around his death-bed that he was not afraid to die. We can’t un. derstand that oue so young and useful should be taken, but Ged knows best, and though we miss Walter greatly, we have hopes that we will meet him where partings are no more, His beautiful casket was literally covered with lovely flowers, tokens of love from friends in Augusta and elsewhere. He leaves father, mother, six brothers and six sisters to mourn the loss of an obedient son and loving brother. Interment at Midway Thuisday. The family have the sympathy of the entirte com munity. M: and Mrs W N Cochran, of Hiram, speut part of lsst week here with Mrs Cochran’s sisters, Mrs Hewett and Mrs Petty. Mr James E Babb, of Rome, was the guest of his sister-in-law, -Mrs Hattie Babb, last Wednesday night and Thursday. Uncle Billie Hardage is spend eng a few days in Dallas with his son, Mr Frank Hardage. Mr and Mrs Nez White left last week for Atlanta, to be gone about two weeks. Mr George Echols, of Nashville, Tenn, Mr Lawson Echols, of Au gusta, and Mrs Monroe, of Atlan ta, attended the funeral of their brother, Walter, last Thursday. Mrs Addie Babb has returned to her home at Battle Hill, after a two weeks’ visit to relatives. We learn that a poultry farm is socn to be started at Lost Moun tain. Well, we are just a little ahead of Lost Mountain in that enterprise. One of our most worthy ladies aiready has a pcul try farm here. She has four or five acres beautifully wired in, chicken houses, etc, and every thing needed in a poultry yard. Of course, she is just trying this on a small scale this year, but af ter this year she will go into the business more extensively, and we feel sure will meet with success. And when we get that car line we're looking for, there will be many more enterprises started up— such as dairying, truck farming, etc. Just let the car line come, and we’ll show yon what we’ll do. Ruby. - Nesbitt Chapel. Allen Rakestraw and family of Paunlding county, spent Sunday with W T Jones and wife Joe Camp and wife of Marietta visited W R Camp Sunday. Jesse Camp is spending some time with C M Head’s family. The Sunday school at this place continues to increase in Attend ance and interest. Rev Mr Manning, of Smyrna, will fill his regular appointment here next Sunday at 11 o’clock. The Home Mission Society of our church met at the home of C. M. Head Sunday afternoon. We prophesy that the crops will be the easiest made and gathered this year of any in a number of vears; at least we will know as to the truthfulness of the old saying that late planting will save a working in the spring and a pick ing in the fall. The fureral was conducted by Rev A J Morgan at Mars Hill, Sunday at 11 o’clock, after which the remains were interred in the cemetery there. Just a little over two years ago Rev Morgan per formed the ceremony that united Miss Bertie, eldest daughter of Mrand Mrs N A Darham, to Mr. W B Adams. Her life was as beautiful as the sweet flowers that covered her grave. She was of a gentle disposition, a devoted wife and mother, and all who knew her wae her friend. She is survived by her husband and little son, ber parents Mr and Mre N A Durham and several brothers and sisters, who have the sympathy of the en tire community . Miss Vivian Hilderbrand of At lanta has been visiting her. aunt Mrs Ed Carrie and family. Mr TomGatlin is having a house erected on his lot near the post office. The mauy friends of Mrs. T. J. Hardage are glad to know she is able to be up. Mrs. S J. Pyron is visiting Mr. and Mrs Lucious Leathers at Vil la Rica. Mrs George Skelton spent last week with her sister Mrs B. Virgil Greer in Marietta. Miss Nellie Eidson is in Atlan ta where she has a position. Mrs J G Lewis and Mrs Lige Skelton were visiting in Atlanta last week. Mrs Jasper Steel and daaghter, Miss Ossie of Rome were here last week. Mr Tom Kitchen of Atlanta is visiting Mr John Cagle. The singing at Baptist Church Sunday wae quite a success. A large crowd present, coming from Atlavta, Smyrna, Marietta, Ros well and Acworth and surround ing country. The leaders were J. P. Mr Ray Baldwic was up from Vinings Sunday late in the after noon and the last seen of him was in the direction of Allatoona. Born to Mr and Mrs Lucious Leathers of Villa Rica April 26, a fine son, MrJ W Bennett will erect a two story brick building on his lot adjoininng the bank. There will be two business houses on the first fleor, one to be-occupied by J W Kitchen and W P VS?hitaker for general merchandise, ard the other by DrJ W Ellis for a drug store. There will be ten rooms up stairs for a hotel or boarding. Mr and Mrs G R Gibson and son, Stanley, returned to their home in Rome Sunday. Mr 8 B Love’s new bungalow is nearing completion, and will soon be occupied. Preaching at the Method:at church last Saturday and Sunday, the regular firet Sunday services for that church at this place.
