the 2od of August a negro, once owned
by Mr. IsatlC Howell, alias FosteV, abas
Green, alias Crocket, killed another n8-
gro, near Marietta, for six dollars and a
half. lie escaped to Madison, where he
stole watches, pistols and money to the
amount of about eight hundred dollars.
Leaving Mad soil he went to the edge of
NctVtun and Walton couuties, where he
stoic a pair of mules belonging to Prof.
Stone, of Oxford. lie then made his
way to Acworth where he sold the mules
and stole a horse frorti a widow lad^. He
was pursued to Mason and timer s ferry,
but escaped by abandoning the horse;—
He stole another horse the same night, and
on Sunday last was arrested by two ot
our policemen and landed in jail, where
lie now is, ruminating on his brief but
brilliant career. If any one can turn out
more rascality than this in ten days, wc
would like to be his special reporter —
