Wonderful Escape.—On such a wretchedly dull day as yesterday we can fully appreciate the feelings which must have prompted the local of thc Louisville Journal to give his readers the de tails of thc following dreadful story: “ Yesterday afternoon, at the corner of Third and Jefferson, we witnessed a sight that fairly froze our blood with horror, and caused each par ticular hair upon our head to stand on end from sheer affright. A severe earthquake was felt at Levegworth on the 25th ult. Everybody scared more or less save the Conservatives. There is a negro in New Albany, Indiana, who is gradually turning white. And a good many whites in the South are rapidly turning black. SEG. III.—PISOIIDUILY HOUSES OR HOUSES OF ILL FAME. Any person or persons who shall keep a dis orderly house, or house of ill fame, and every owner of a house or houses, or other person who may rent or cause to be rented, any house to be used as a house of ill fame, shall be fined not exceeding S25 for every day the house is so kept. Circumstances from which it may reas onably be inferred that any house which is inhabited by disorderly persons of im- mornl character and notoriously bad fame, is a disorderly house, or house of ill fame, shall he sufficient to establish the fact according to the meaning of this section : and every adult per son or persons inhabiting or living in such house, shall be considered the keeper or keep ers thereof, and bo subject to the penalties of this section. SEC. IV.—GAMING AND GAMING TABLES. No person shall have, keep or use, or shall allow any other person to have, keep or use, on his or her premises, within the cit}’ of New nan, any house, room or other place for the purpose of playing or betting at any of the games enumerated in the 243d Section of the 10th Division of the Penal Code of this State, under penalty of paying a fine not exceeding $25 for each offence. And any person or per sons found playing and betting at any of tho games so enumerated shall bo subject to the like penalty o f those keeping or using such house or room. SEC V.—DISORDERLY DRIVING, &C. No person shall drive a vehicle of any des cription. or ride or run a horse, mule or any animal, in a disorderly manner through the streets, nor drive any drove of mules or horses through the streets, except on entering or leav ing the city ; nor sln.ll drive or place any horse, mule or other animal, or any kind of carriage on any- sidewall or crossway, or in any street which iuterseeis any side or other wills in such manner as to to prevent the free passage of persons ; nor shall any person hitch or tje any any horse, mule ir ox to any shade tree on the side walks, or to failings, fences or other enclosures of lots publicor private. Pro vided, nevertheless, that this lection shall not prevent wagons or other carriages from load ing or unloading or other woik at the ware houses c- other stores when it stall be neces sary.
