Mr. Frank Steed, a short time since,
sold two and a hall bushels of wheat
of the rapalianoc variety to a gen lo
nian in town which wei 'lied 6.5 pounds
per hi she!. This wheat was grown on
Frank’s farm.
There is sorrow and weeping in the
household of Mr G 0. Looney for the
loss of their iidant baby boy. YVe

Peter, in Pensacola, Fla. lie was a
former oitizn of this place, but moved
recently to Pensacola. Mr. Moline also

to etu neio-libor town last. Tuesday, in
company with Mr John Smith, not the
Pocahontas John, hut oitr John, who,
by the by, is one of liie cleverest and
shrewdest merchants of our acquain
tance, The cotton crop along the
route looks fine and premises an abun
dant yield of the 11 n cy staple. In fact,
the prospects are good for the farmer
jnall kinds of products.
There being protests entered against
all the Sheriff's sales, of course there
was no property offered to the higln st
bidder. We found the Ordinary, Sheriff
and his deputy as busy as bres in a
tar bucket. No one knows the amount
of business that goes through their
respective offices, until they visit them
on public days.

the Baptist Church, under the gnido

Last Monday night, as Mr. William
Jackson was engaged in his back room
drawing molasses, s me one entered
tlie front door and secreted themselves
among the some boxes and sacks cf
flour They remained in their hiding
place and watched Mr, J. as he counted
his money and put it away in a sugar
box ; and, perhaps, anticipating what
a large haul they would make whin

ness hours were over and the store
closed for the night, then commenced
the woik of pillage. They succeeded
in ultaiuiuiug possession of about $45
in money and let themselves out
through the buck door.

The house of Mr. J. W. Cobb, who
resides one mile ab ve town, was en
tered last Saturday an:’ a tiunk taken
therefrom, carried about two huudnd
yards from the house among ti e bushes
where it was b.uken open and a lot of
ladies’clothing and other articles cf
value belonging to Mr. Cobb’s wife
and sister was extracted from it. Mrs.
and Miss Cubb were on a visit at tho
time to Jonosboio, and Mr. C- was at-,
sent from home during the day. Search
is being made for the guilty party, and
we hope they may be c- ught and be
biougbt to justice.

Gone to Sleep. — It becomes our sad
duty to record the death of little Eddie,
only child of Air and Mrs. \V. E. Join
Eddie had been suffering with whoop
ing cough for a week, or two, and was
not considered dangerously ill until
last Saturday evening, but lingered
until Sunday morning at 8 oichick.
The parents < f Eddie have our sympa
thy in Ibis their time of great, trouble.
