They were grown on his place a short

Strawberries —On last Saturday,
Mrs. Mii.tox C. Wade presented 11s a
cluster of this delicious fruit, freshly
plucked from her garden. It was large,
thoroughly ripe and delicious. Tlio. re
ception of fresh strawberries in the
month of November, is a remarkable
announcement; but we verily believe
that said fruit can be realized in this
climate every month in Ihe year.

Ec Guided by what you Know.
There is an old proverb which says. ‘ Expe
rience is the safest guide. ’’ To this guide the
dek and ibe ailing naturally turn when casting
| about; for the means of relief. They enquire
S what a medicine has done for others, before they
1 adopt it themselves. Os all the remedies and
preventives in use. Hosioiter's Stomach Bitters
meets the test most triumphantly, and hence its
immense popularity and vast sales. The suffer
er from indigestion is sure to find someone
among his friends who has been cured of that
ailmentsby the famous vegetable stomachic.
The victim of fever and ague, liver complaint,
constipation, nervous prostration, or general
debility, has only to make inquiry in the neigh
borhood v here he resides in order to discover
what this standard restorative has effected in
eases similar to his own. In the published tes
timony to its merits ho will find a volume of
proofs of ils sanitary properties, which it is im
possible for lus common sense to resist. lie
trie::, it. end the eii’ecd it produces on his system
adds another to the host of witnesses in its fa
vor. Thus, its repuiCtiou, founded on facts,
not assertions, continually grows ami spreads.
Charlatans and impostors some of them mere
local tricksters, and others who take a somewhat
whler range, attempt to thrust into the hands
and down the throats of invalids. I heir hapha
zard concoctions, as substitutes for tbeionic
which for so many years has been a medicinal
staple throughout the United States, Spanish
America. Canada, and the West Indie.’, but only
succeeded to a very limited extent. In this
reasoning age, the people, having ascertained
what is n illy deserving of their confidence, do
clino “running alter strange gods.”
