FOR CAPT. SCOTT I
Capt. Scott, by yesterday's returns, gels
the delegates front this couuty in the Coo*
gressiouul race by about 150 votes.
He has already secured the endorse
uent of Chattooga county. These two
counties will give him 6 votes, just one
third of what will be required to nom
inate him. He has hopes of getting oue
or two more on the first ballot. This,
however, is quite a respectable start.
• lim Waddoll will go in with about 0
votes, Polk and Cobb.
Young and Johnson will go iu with
10 or 12 each; i. e. one with 10 and the
other with 12.
Two or three counties will send up t wo
delegations each, thus insuring a lively
time for tho credential committee. The.
Convention will have 3G delegates.
Tho balloting will doubtless be periii
tent and exciting, and it takes a wi*er
head than ours to even hint at the result.
Each man’s friends are hopeful and de
termined, and the sharpest will win. A
strong delegation has been appointed to
champion the cause of Capt. Scott, and
the chances are Gne that our labors will
at last come to fruition, and that Route
will have a Representative in Congress,
Let us hope for the best!
The counties stands as follows, thi
numbers affixed signifying the number ot
votes the county s entitled to.
Scott—Floyd 4, Chattoo a 2; total (.
Waddell Polk 2, Cobb 4; total fi.
Young—Bartow 4, Paulding 2, Dade
2; total 8.
Johnson —Whitfield 2, Murray 2, Ca
toosa 2, Walker 2; total 8.
This leaves Cherokee, which will semi
2 delegates; Haralson couuiy, whose dele
gates wish to vote against their instruc
tions; and Gordon, which held her final
meeting yesterday, and from which we
have not yet heard. The decision of
these counties will pr bably give John
son and Young 10 or 12 each on the first
ballot.

Public Library
OF KENTUCKY.
SICU3 COICEBT.
Day ff HeJrawiDi Fixed.
No Postponement from Sept. 28.
To the Public. ;
The Trustees of the Public Library of
Kentucky being satisfied from the large sale
of tickets already made, and the daily in
creasing demand for them, that there will be
no occasion for postponing the second draw
ing in the Gift Concert in aid of the Public
Library of Kentucky, have instructed me,
: as their agent and manager of the Gift Con-
I cert, to say to the public and ticket-holders
that the drawing will positively take place
on September 28th, prox.. and will not be
postponed. An active demand for tickets
comes from every S ate and Territory of the
United States and from the Canadas, giving
assurance to the Trustees that no circum
stances can prevent a drawing at the ap
pointed time.
A sufficient clerical force is engaged to
keep up with tiie orders for tickets, and in
order that this office may be relieved of the
immense pressure incident to the business
for the week or two immediately preceding
the drawing, agents especially, and those
desiiousof procuring tickets, are requested
to i-eiiil in their orders immediately, as sales
will have to he closed in time to make the
necessary preparation* for the drawing. It
is the wish of the management to fill every
order for a ticket as well as to sell all the
t ckets, but those who apply lirst must first
be supplied ; and if those who put off buy
ing until sales arc closed have their money
returned, instead of the tickets ordered, as
in the first Gift Concert in December last,
when thousands of dollars that came too
late were sent hack, they will have none to
blame but themselves.
