How to Clean Windows. Windows can easily and quickly be cleaned with a spoonful of kero sene and one quart of cold water ap plied with a soft cloth, and rubbed dry with an old cotton or linen cloth. Simmer together one ounce of thoroughwort (bonoset) and one ounce of flaxseed in one quart of water until the strength is ontirely extracted. Strain carefully through a cloth. Add one pint of best mo lasses and half a pound of loaf sugar. Simmer them together and when cold bottle tight. The following recommendation came with the recipe. A well dressed man made a bold at tempt to commit suicido at Briggs’ gun store, in Chester. He asked to be shown a 88-caliber Smith & Wesson revolver. Tho stranger examined it intently, and then questioned Mr. Briggs as to tho method of loading it. Ho appeared to be ignorant of tho manner of using fire arms. The modus operand! was ex plained to.him. The stranger insisted tlmt a cartridge lm placod in the revolver, but a certain look in the man’s faco excited Mr. Briggs’ suspicion, and pretending to chargo a chamber ho handed over tho empty revolver. Bitter disappoint ment swept over his faco when there wits only a harmless cliok. “You can’t harm yourself, friend,” re marked Mr. Briggs, "tho revolver is empty. The boxes were claimed by Isuac Woolf, the west sido merchant, to whom they were consigned from Japan.
