In the cities of Nashville and Memphis it is abating somewhat, and the terros of the inhabitants is at an end; but in the' small towns the disease is more preva. lent and violent than it has ever been in the cities. In somo towns three fourths of the inhabitants have fled, leaving the poor people without means of subsistence. The idea seems to prevail that chol era is confined to bluo lime stono re gions, and that in this part of Georgia there is no danger. Wc think this a mistake. It is reported to have made its | appearance in Montgomery, Ala., ancV years ago raged in New Orleans and ou the rice plantations of the SnvanDah .river. One case is reported in Dalton; ithere is no reason to suppose that it will not extend further South. The authorities of Atlanta, with com mcndable prudence, employed hundreds bauds to cleanse their city a month ago. What lias been done in Augusta, Macon, and Savannah ?
