DB. HELMBOLD:
Dear Sir—It is with much pleasure that I write
you upon facts respecting mysolf. I do not know
hardly how to express myself. I have been for the
last ten or twelvo years the greatest sufferer man
could be and live; but more some times than oth
ers. The complaint was tho “ Kidneys” and “Blad
der.” I have been sometimes from twelve to four
teen hours, and wanted to make water every min T
utb, but Could not. ' Have' consulted doctors, both
in Massachusetts and this Stato, and taken pills, I
may say: by the quart; also liquored medicines
hut found no relief from any, and got worse the
last six months. I was so that I could scarely get
about. I could not rest night or. day. It would
soonhkye been f • all up”,with me U; I had not isoen
youe advertisement in the Berkshire Goumfjhaad-
ed “Kidneys.” I. read It through and thought I
would try it. I purchased a bottlo, but, mind you,
I bad not much faith in it. Why should I, when I
had been trying so many things and cost mo so
much ? Well, I began taking it, and before I had
taken the first bottlo I felt bad; but I finished it,
and got another. By the time I tool: half the sec
ond I still got worse (apparently.) When I walked
it seemed as if my right kidnoy was falling from its
place, and I felt roally bad. I felt so, before I had
finished the second, that I made up my mind it was
of no use trying anymore—and all this time the
“Buchu” was doing its work, but I did not know
it, so I gavo it up and went to Hartford on Satur
day to one of tho best doctors in the city. He said
it was in the neck of tho bladder, and I should have
to undergo an operation. ' Ho gave me medicine,
and I went home quite down-hearted. On Sunday
I wad unable to go to church. I bad not taken any
of his medicine,-but on my return continued using
the “ Buohuy’ and in the aftomoon had a desire to
make water, bpt could not. About one hour after
this Ttriod again with the same result; but.tho next
time I took the vessel it was the same as turning a
faucet and stopping it off again. It was so for threo
timos, and tho third there was something came
through the passage, and struck against the side of
theveBseh I examined it, and itis the ugliest stone
or gravel you evqr saw, covered over with little
pieces which had collectod together. It looks the
color of a mud-turtle, and is as hard as flint. So
you see the “ Bnchu” was doing its work, although
I was feeling so badly. I procured another bottle;
thinking there might bo Eome more behind; but
sinco that has passed, which i3 eight weeks ago last
Sunday, I have been as well as ever I was m my
life. I have the atone securely wrapped, and those
who have seen it in this place are surprised. I can
not tell you all, but this Is a true story of my case,
and you are welcome to make such uSe of my name
as you may think proper. I am pretty well known
in Berkshire; also in Connecticut. Tho advertise
ment saved me. Why not publish more? The
Springfield Republican is a wide-spread paper. If
any one wishes to see this wonder, they can do so. I
could write all day, but think I have said enough
this time; so I remain your evor well wisher.

A CASE OF TWENTY YEARS’ STANDING.
Philadelphia, Pa., Juno 25,18G7.;
H.T- HELMBOLD, Druggist:
Dear Sir . I have been a sufferer for over twenty
years with gravel, bladder and kidney affections,
during which time I have used various medicinal
preparations, and been under the treatment of .the
most eminent physicians, experiencing but little re-
Having sefn your preparation extensively adver
tised, I consulted my family phsyieiau in regard to
aeingyour Extract Buchu.
I did this because I had used all kinds of adver
tised remedies and had found them worthless, arid
some quito injurious; in fact, I despaired of ever
getting well, and determined to use no remedies
icroaster unices I knew of tho ingredients. It was
this that prompted mo to use your remedy. As yqn
advertised that it was composed of buchu, cubebs
and juniper berrios, it occurred to me and my phy
sician u an excellent combination; and with his ad
vice, after an examination of tb8 article, and con
sulting again with tho druggist, I concluded to try
it. I commenced to ueo it about eight months ago,
at which time I was confined to my room.
From the first bottle I was astonished and grati
fied at the beneficial effect, and after using it threo
weeks was able to walk out. I felt much like writ
ing to you a full statement of my case at the time,
but thought my improvement might only bo tempo
rary. and theroforo concluded to defer, and seoif.it
would effect a perfect cure, knowing that it would
bo of greater value to you and more satisfactory to
mo.
I am now ablo to report that a euro is effected
after using the remedy for five months.
I have not used any now for three months, and
feel as well in all respects as I ever did.
Your Buchu being devoid of any unpleasant taite
and odor, a nice tonio and invigorator of the sys

of its merits, and without prejudice or partiality I
give vours precedence over all others. ...
I have cured with it, and seen cared with it, more
diseases of the bladder and kidneys than I have
ever seen cured with any other Buchu, or any other
