GEORGIA:
By Rufus B. Buttock, Governor of said State..
Weeheas, Official information bae been received
at this Department that one I’Lrca Fricks, a noto
rious character, has of late committed many depre
dations upon the good and law abiding citizens of
Lumpkin county, and the counties adjacent thereto,
and that several indictments aro now pending
against him in thoso counties, charging him with
assault with intent to murder, arson, horse stealing,
and other divers crimes; and, — \
Whereas, Notwithstanding the diligent efforts by
the civil authorities in endeavoring to approhend
tho said Fbicks, he has succeeded in eluding their
vigilance, and is still at large, greatly to the terror
and the disturbance of the peace and good order of
said communities:
Now, therefore, believing that tho, offering of a
suitable award is essential as a means of bringing
to justice the said Fnicxs, I have thought proper to
issue this, my proclamation, hereby offering a re
ward of FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS for tho appro-
heneion and delivery of the said Prana Fricks to
the Sheriff of Lumpkin county, and an additionalre
ward of FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS on his con
viction of any of tbe felonies with which ho stands
charged.
