A Revolutionary Crisis In France.
The telegrams yesterday say, with great con
fidence, that another revolution is on the tapis
in Paris, and the army i3 on the point of revolt
to make Gen. McMahon regent and revive the
Empire. Thiers and his Republic are said to
be universally odious, r.nd all parties are plot
ting its overthrow. Meanwhile, as these propo
sitions smell strongly of gunpowder and public
disorder, peacefully disposed people are stam
peding from Paris.
Franco needs a powerful and energetic gov
ernment. In the light of history since the faU
of the Empire, few reasonable men will doubt
that Napoleon gave France, on the whole, as
liberal a government as was consistent with pnb.
b'o order; and it is not improbable that the war
with Germany and the terrible disasters result
ing both to France and tho Empire, flowed in
directly from the Emperor’s eagerness to popu
larize his government, and thns to pave tho way
for a less energetic succession. In other words,we
credit his assertion at Wilhelmshoe that popu
lar clamor forced him into that war contrary to
his judgment and inclination, which very prob
ably it might not have done under the earlier
organization of his government. The age and
health of tho Emperor, and the youth of his
successor, ore unpromising features in the situ
ation, but on the other hand the Bourbons of
both branches have failed to show any appre-

the foregoing we have omitted the Ian-
as laid down in the books for such occa-
nnd merely reported what was done.
The gavel used on this occasion was made from
the oak tree under which Oglethorpe organized
the first Masonic Lodge of Georgia, in 1733.
Tho exercises were witnessed by a very large
concourse of citizens and were graced by tho
presence of hundreds of ladies, numbers of
whom could not obtain positions near enough
to the stand to hear what wa3 going on. The
exeroisss being over the fraternity reformed
and returned to the lodge from whence they
started, and the vast assembly dispersed. Thus
olosed the impressive and imposing-ceremony
of laying the corner stone of the Grand Lodge
Masonio Hall of Georgia, a building which,
when completed, will not only be a source of
pride and credit to the ancient and mystio broth
erhood that erects it, but will be an ornament
to the city of Macon and an honor to the State.
Heat,ty.—Wo were informed yesterday by
one of our best physicians and largest practi

time within the last twenty years. There is
really no aiokness worth mentioning. The city
sexton says he is not making enough to pay off
his laborers at the oemetery.
