The adjudication in bankruptcy does not per
re divest the State court of jariadiation over
the bankrupt or his arssis, or snspend pro-

The bankrupt Courts will ooly exercise its
oontrol over litigants in the Stats Courts when
necessary to sustain or protect an equity or the
bankrupt estate, or to prevent a aacnfioe of the
interest of the general Lodv of creditor* to the

Thia is the oditorial of Advertiser and Re

The above deoisionv although emanating from
lower Courts, ere very important, aa, after all
that ha* been aaid, they rirtnslly establish the
constitutionality of the homestead Uw. The
position taken, as we understand it, is that
while the States cannot pas-i any set in viola
tion of contracts, the Congress of the United
States has fail power to do so; and in ths late
amendment to the bankrupt law the exemp
tions allowed by the State Constitutions must
be oonsidered constitutional and valid. Sbonld
these decision* be confirmed by the Supreme
Court of the United States the homestead Uw
will still be of force.
