A somewhat tjresome rids of five hours’ durktiriti brought us to the residence of Dr. Jakes, who is pne of the cleverest gentlemen in Florida. We took his premises, so to speak, by storm. Her'e we were directed by Mr. Sims to divest oftrselves of Okf walk into broadcloth, white satin/ white kids, etc.—that iB put on “wedding gar* . ment .” Mr. S. now avowed his real Livebpool SAiT.—Messrs Babbit & \ intent j on j na becoming and patriotii AVaifield have a fine lot of Liveipoii j maBne? , We had overcome the ad- u . which they w'otild like to se o vance( j posits without loss, and had , enters by the wholesale, at ve p | fully equipped ourselves for the more It is an excellent ar ic e. ar( j uous( i al j es D f the “raid." Now, only two miles lay between us and the main position—the residence of Mr. Dohalo Nicholson—which most be possessed. If we were successful, we would have cause for much re joicing on Sceoufft of the beauty there assembled and the bounteous and tempting feast of delicacies known to be there spread out in profusion. At 8 o'clock, precisely, we carried the position/ after being reinforced by two couples of fair Floridians/ in the following style : We formed in two ranks, right-face—Mr. Sims and Miss Emma NicholsGn in from—and march ed into the parlor/ withettt bppfOBi- tion, where we were met by the Rev. A. J. Dean, who, after we had taken po sition, in a very short time changed the name of Miss N. to that of Mrs. S. Thus terminated 'he attack, tlie capitulation, and the surrender which made 13ill Sim* a married man. Congratulations were freely given, ami ail were happy, espee.aiiy the •‘dearly beloved.’’ We now weut mio the hall where th.e feast was in wait ing, and there we participated in a repast that wolild not have been ob jected to and would have charmed the varied appetite of Epieurus himself. Supper over, the gay mul titude returned to the parlor and mad6 the moments fly quickly by, adding joy to the already over joyous occasion. And then the “Wedding Cake” was to be cut,.and whosoever should be so fortunate as to get the ring therein, that one would he the next married—and, reader, what do you think ? We, the poor printer, whom everybody owes and whom nobody will pay, got tbe ring ! VVe trust, therefore, that our delinquent subscribers will remember this and pay us our money, or we can’t “git marnt.” Before closing this, we must say that the women of Florida are the prettiest and the best in creation- except Bainbridge—and if we should have the opportunity of repeating our visit frequently, we fear, that we wouldn’t even except Bain hr id We might mention among the beauty there arrayed, Miss. H. (i., Miss. M. I., Miss, H. N., and Miss. M. N. We shall never forget them. The friends of Mr. Sims will be gratified to learn that he stood the pleasant ordeal with characteristic courage and is now the lord and mas ter of one of the sweetest Bowers that/has ever bloomed in the “Flower Lund.” Ih® ‘ Old Doctor" nt the City Drug Rtore on South Broad .Street, though pike (Audited’toj'.scT, “weary and old Kith service,” we perceive, is still able, vitl* a little help, to wait on his unmep- I 0 " 8 customers.
