The present critical state of European affairs
will render these publications unusually interest

of tie daily Journal, and Ihe ponderous Tome of
the future historian, written after the living inter
est and excitement of the groat political events of
the time shall have passed away. It is to these
Periodicals that readers must look for the only
really intelligible and reliable history of current
events, and as such, in addition to their well-os- s
tablisbed literary, scientific, and theological char-’
acter, we urge them upon the consideration of the
reading public.
Arrangements are now permanently made for the
eoipt of Early Sheets from the British Publish
ers, by which we are enabled to place all our
Reprints in the hand 3 of subscribers, about as
soon as fc they can be furniekod with the foreign

TO those of my friends who now, and aro dis
posed to patronize tho Citizens’ Mill, let me
earnestly request you to send your Grits to the Mill
from daylight till 12 o’clock. You will at onco
see the.grcat importance to me of this request. It
is a very great inconvenience to be raising and
shutting down on j, j or bushel, as often comes to

as I have but one power ; either tho Saw Mill or
Machinery must occupy this power after 12 o'clock.
Hence it is, 1 respectfully make the request, and
solicit your generous support. Those who prefer
to come in the evening, can do so, and call for the

as it gives closer quarters to work in at night than
