Adenoid Operations

Atlanta, Sept, 2 —Some seventy
five Atlanta school children crowd
ed the halls of the Grady Hospital
Wednesday morning to have their
adenoids removed, but facilities of
the hospical were insufficient and
Superintendent Summerall was
forced to turn away all save elev
en, for whom accommodations
were found.
Because of this unusual influx
of patients, varying trom tots to
boys andtgirls about 16 years of
age, the superintendent said he
would double the work required
of the operating surgeons. He an
nounced that the hospital would
admit the children on Monaays
and Wednesdays for operations on
Tuesdays and Thursdays until the
little patients had been relieved of
their adenoids.

for robbery, was killed, with two
other convicts, by a premature ex
plosion of dynamite in road work
near East Point early in June. 5
The claim was referred to a con
ference of the finance committee.

1,000,000 bales of cotton, The
price offered was 15 cents a pound

To Take Vacation‘

Mrs. Harris expect to leave At
lanta the latter part of this weeki

weeks’ vacation at their summer
home at Hampton, Tenn. There
was some talk today that he
might. issue his call for the extra
session of the Legislature before
leaving. Notwithstanding this,l
he stated he would probably wait

had reached no definite decisionl

BRIDGES SMITH MAY
Macon, Sep, I—The ‘‘citizens’
committee” which has an alder
manic ticket in the field has notifi
ed Mayor Bridges Smith that if
he does not announce an opposition
ticket they will not oppose him
for mavor. If hLowever, he does
assemble a ticket for Council in
support of his candidacy, they will
also have a mayoralty candidate.
He will probably be either Eugene
Stetson or Dr. W, G. Lee.
Mr.. Smith is consulting with
political advisers before deciding,
but it is believed that he will have
a ticket.

Dr. Vining Held In
Narcotic Crusade
Atlanta, Sept. 2.—Dr. J. H.
Vining, implicated in the drug
crusade, Wednesday was held un
der $5OO bond by United States
Commissioner Carter in the Fed
eral Building.
Dr. Vining’ was charged with
writing heavy prescriptions for a
woman who is said to have peddled
the morphine, She is said to have
obtained 45 grains a day,
