LATEST IMPROVEMENT IN COTTON GINS.
UJ E respectfoliy inform our friends and the planters
generally, of Alabama and Georgia, that the GI
RARD COT'f ON GIN MANUFACTORY is in
liiil operation.
It is amply supplied with the very liest materials
wh.ch could hi* selected. ‘I he machinery is ail new,
j and constructed on the most approved plans for the
j manufacture of Cotton (Jins.
The machinists and workmen employed in the estab
lishment are skillful and experienced in the business ;
and we have made such improvements hi the mechan
ism nnd construction of our Gins that wa- feel certain, in
every cose, to furnish u Gin which w ill perforin admi
rably well, and give the purchaser entire satisfaction.
In the way of recommendation, we need only say,
that we furnished several hundred of our late improved
Gins to planters in various parts of the country during
the season, and not one of that number lias tailed to give
general satisfaction, both in ?f>eed nnd the sample oi
Cotton.
Lty ORDERS can lie sent to us by mail, or contracts
made without Agents who arc travelling through the
country.
(HNS will be sent to any part of the country, and in
all cases warranted to perform weil.
Persons addressing the Proprietors by mail, will di
rect their letters to Columbus, Ga.

Griswold's Improved Cotton Gins.
! rpHE subscrilHT “dl continue the manufacture of
X Gins on his usual extensive scale, and embraces
this opportunity to thank his numerous customers for
their Liberal patronage heretofore. The estimation in
which his (Jins are held, may be known from the fact
of tus having sold more than two thousand during the
last three year?—probably ten to one over any other
Factory in the State. ‘1 his evidence of the superiority
of his Gins, is accounted lor by his being the first to in
troduce the late improvements, and keeping the lead
|by yearly adding new ones. His first ami second im
i provemeots made the quality of cotton perfect, though
some were rather slow, liis third made them sufli
cientiy fust. It then only remained to make them more
durable nnd convenient, which has been done he be
lieves effectually, by several new improvements the pre
sent year: besides, he has the exc.usive rigid for the
I Suite, with the privilege of other sections, to furnish
i Reid's Patent Water Boxes, which are believed to be
| ten times more durable than any other, by those who
have made a fair trial of them ; and are infallibly se
cure against fire by friction. His fine Gins will gin
Mastodon Cotton as weil as any Saw Gm can. If is
agents will visit planters general y, and exhibit sjieci
mens of his late improvements, and point out their nd- 1
vantages in time for all to engage and be supplied be- I
fore the next ginning season, or engagements can be I
made by letter, directed t him, Clinton, Jones county,
Georgia, (inis will be delivered at the purchase r’s res
idence, in any part of the State except the Cherokee
counties, where they will be left at tne Depot on the
Railroad most convenient to the purchaser. All war
ranted to perform well, if used according to the direc
tions sent with each.

SUPERIOR COTTON GINS.
r pilE subscriber would inform the planters of Gcor-
L gia, tliai he lias removed his Cotton Gin Factory
to Bibb county, 34 mites from Macon,on the road lead
ing from Vlacon to Gordon, w here lie intends to manu
facture Cotton ( ims of a quality superior to any he has i
ever liefbre made, if possible. In the construction of
his Gins, he will particularly guard against the possibil
ity of taking fire Irom the (tin. And here he would re
mark, that it is impossible for a Gin to take fire from
the boxes without the grossest neglect on the part of
those who have the management o them. Gins that
get burnt, in nine hundred and ninety-nine times out of
a thousand take fire from a different cause than the box.
To this objection the Gins inanuiacturedh y the sub's Ti
ber, are not, amt never hare been liable His Gins
will be made of the. best materials, and w arranted to
perform as well as any Gins made in the State. He has i
an excellent water-power t* turn his machinery, and ‘
a good saw-mill right at h nid, wdiich will ennbl? him ‘
to sell Gins on as good terms a* any other Factory in I
the State. O. W. MASSEY, j

cuts com. oats, hay, shucks, straw, or stalks with great
rapidity, and so easily that a l>oy of twelve years old can
work it. It can be attached to a gin wheel without any
extra expense, us the fly-wheel answeia lor a pulley.—
The great advantage of tins machine over all others, is
in the shape of the bh.de—it being concave and convex,
parting the straw in the middle and cutting both ways,
which no other blade can do. So simple is this ina
chine. than any person that can grind un uxe can put
the blade in order. Any black smith can make the
olade. We shall keep one on hand for out friends to
examine before puichasing.
