LATEST IMPROVEMENT IN COTTON GINS.
UT E repectfully inform our friends and the planters
generally, of Alabama and Georgia, that the Gl
i RARIV COTTON GIN MANUFACTORY is in
lull operation.
It is amply supplied with the very beat materials
which could b** selected. The machinery is all new,
and constructed on the most approved plans tor the
manufacture of Cotton Gins.
The machinists and workmen employed in the estab
lishment are skillful nnd experienced in the business ;
and we have made such improve: i nts in the mechan
ism and construction of our (inis that we lee 1 certain, in
every case, to furnish a Gin which will perform admi
rably well, and give the purchaser entire satisfaction.
In the way of recommendation, we need only say,
that we furnished several hundred of our late improved
(ims to planters in various parts of the country during
the season, and not one ot that number has failed to give
general satisfaction, both in speed and the sample of
Cotton.
ORDERS can be sent to us by mail, or contracts
made with our Agents who are travelling through the
country.
GINS will be sent to any part of the country, and in
all cases warranted to perform well.
Persons addressing the Proprietors by mail, will di
rect their letters to Columbus, (iu.

Griswold’s Improved Cotton Gins.
rpHE subscriber will continue the ni.'inu: ,cture of
I Gins on his usual extensive scale, and embraces {
this opportunity to thank his numerous customers for j
their liberal patronage heretofore. The estimation in j
which his (Jins are held, may !*• known from the fact
of his having sold more than two thousand during the
last three years—probably ten to one ovr any other >
Factory in the State. ‘lnisevidence of the superiority :
of his Gins, is accounted for by his being the iiist to in
troduce the late improvements, and k * ping the fend
by yearly adding new ones. His first and second im
provements made the quality ot cotton perfect, though
some were rather slow. His third made th*in sulti
ciently fast. It then only remained to make them n,< r*-
durable nnd convenient, which has been d* ■:i.■ he l*
lieves effectually, by several new iiiiprowmnitsth” pre
sent year: besides, I je lias the excius.v right for th**
State, with the privilege ol other sections, to furnish {
Reid’s Patent Water Boxes, which arc ltelieved to in*
ton times more durable than any other, by those who
have made a fair trial of them , and are infallibly sc- 1
cure against tire by friction. His tine Gins will gin j
Mastodon Cotton as well as any Siw Gin can. His
agents will visit planters generally, and exhibit speci
mens of his late improvements, and point out th* ir ad
vantages in time for all to engage and be supplied be
fore the next ginning season, or engagements can be
made by letter, directed to him, Clinton, Jones county,
Georgia. Gins w'ill be delivered at the purchiiser’s res

counties, wtiere they will be left at the D< j* t on the I

rpHE subscriber would inform the plametso: G*or
X gia, that he has removed lus Cotton Gin I ‘ cion j
to Bibb county, 3 miles from Macon,on the road lead- j
ing from Macon to Gordon, where lie intends to maim
facture Cotton Gins of a quality sujxrior to any he has
ever Indore made, if possible. In the construction <>l ;
his Gins, he will particularly guard against tli* possibil- j
ity of taking tire from the Gin. And lie re lie. would re
mark, thut it is impossible for a Gin to take tire from
the boxes without the grossest neglect on the part of
those who have the management o them. Gins that
get burnt, in nine hundred and ninety-nine times out of
a thousand take tire from a different than the box.
To this objection the Gins manutacturedb y the subscri
ber, are not. and never have been liable. 11 is Gins
will be made of the best materials, and warranted to
perform as well as any Gins made in the State He has .
un excellent water-power to turn his machinery, and i
a good saw-mill right at hand, which will enable him
to sell Gins on as good terms as any other Factory in !
the State. O. VV. MASSEY.
