Moktpiuib, January 6 —The Demo cratic Stato Committee bare issued r.n in- Tiution to leading Democrats to meet for conanltation on January 8tb,in Wash inf ton. Foreign Nona. Loudon. January C.—The Standard’* special from Constantinople, after re viewing proceedings of Thursday's sil ting of the conference, expresses the opinion that the dangerous part of tbe crisis is over. Fasts, January 6 —The Jfowtfsur, which la in olose relation with the French for sign offloe, however, publishes the fol lowing paragraph : “ Wo regret to atato that tbe disposition of Tuikey was not improved in Thursday's aitUog.nnd leaves very little hope of an arrangement by diplomacy. Although conference meets again on Monday, the situation is not modified It may even now be stated that the task of England is ended.” Mapnio, January G—The stato of ,itgo and suspension of guarantees will oontinae in tho Basque provinces. Loni*oi», January G.—Tho Times' Paris correspondent quota, n letter written by unn of tho moat ominont members of the conferot.ee, <o show that a oomploto uhaago in Iho nttitndo of tbe Forte, by wbioh it now proposes torma to E trope, instead of nice vena, is dao to the fact, «if which the Turks aro finally aware, that the ItoBsian mobilixitlon hts oompleleiy broken down, ntul that none of the other Eaiopesu powers ere prepared to oiert anything bat moral pressure. CoNSTANTiNOPni, January G —On Fri <lsy evening tho situation wai changed. Negotiations continue among the plenipotentiaries, and between them and tho 'Turks, with tbe viow of inducing the Turks not to formally refuse certain of the formulated proposals, which, how ever, tbe plenipotentiaries seem disposed to modify somewhat from their original shape. It in hopod that the discussion of these proposals will ho resumed at tbe next sitting of the conference. London, January G —Tho X'era corres pondent of the Times, heretofore strongly with tho Turkish and pro-Russians, writes under the dato of January lst,*'Iamof opinion that the Turks will ultimately give in, but there is no doubt that the great trump card intended to bo played as • last resource, that of a duclaraton of war by Rossis, has suddenly turned out to bo no trump at all; for everything in iho attitudo of tho St. Petersburg Cabi net, and the conduct *f General Ignatieff, Russian plenipotentiary here, contributes to confirm tbe belief that Russia is afraid to go to war.' The ambassador, in fact, throws out clear hints that tho affair could only lie settled by jeint Ku-opcan execution, thus reverting to the proposal ■uatio by the Czar two months ago. Tbe Turks have not failed to perceive the ad vantngo accruing to tbeir cause from this irresolution of Russia and Europe, and nre not unlikely to continue unman ogoableand stubborn, as long as tney can Hatter themselves that tho conference ■rill break up without nny other result than leaving them master of the aitns tion. XiONhiN, January C.—Tho Qlobe states that Russia has ordered fourteen Krnpp eleven-inch guns for Cronstradt. The Fall Mall Ogtetts, in the editorial note, says: “The telegrams and news Ictteis Hi,out the e inference, tbe attitnde of the Talks and the disposition or tho Russians only deepen tho obscurities of Iho whole question. It seems doubtful whether, at any time, more uncertainty, ur o.mfnsion has prevailed than at this moment. It is clear that the committee of foreign statesmen, n-nemblod in Con stantinople, bus, itself, fallen into muoh disorder, and that if tbe Turkshre only .violate enongb at this hour, and are, iheieiore, tru'y aoiieitous and apaedy in establishing tbe reforms of tbeir own new constitution, they may boast of haviDg defeated and silenced all Europe.” The Last I.:iy of tho Minstrel.
