STRUCT! VK /JON F LAG RATION. •—
About four o’clock yesterday afternoon, a fire
broke out' in tho yard of the Savannah Stenrn Snw
Mill Company, 011 tho other side of the river, nppo*
silo the yard of tho Steamhoat Company of Geor
gia. It proceeded from mi old huilding from one
to two hundred yard* holme thn mill, nod about 100
feet long by 30 wide, tho rotif of which ignited front
a spark front tho mill pipe, the wind nt thu time
blowing ►irons from the North West. , Tho build*
ing was immediately in n blruo, and tho fin.* com-
mii'iicutcd in ten minutes or lets to tho schooner
Mr dura, of Providence, lying nt tho wharf near.,
Tho firo wax by the wind rapidly extended to a car
go of white pino boards on the wharf, owned by
Captain Wm Crabtree,jr., to which gentleman and
Georgo Hall, Esq.,hotli nf thix city, the building in
which the firo originated also belonged. .
In thi* huilding (on which there wa« some in*

ance Company of N.'Yorh,) there was a new on-
giuo intended for a now Steam Raw Mill about to
bo crcctod, which wa* owned by lira tamo gentle-
men, and’which we are happy to learn is hut par
tially iqiurcd. Thi* ongino was not insured.
The (lntu?a also extended to another eld building,
of samo dimension*, ns the former, the property of
tho Estate of tbo late Robert Isaac, which was nls.
totally consumed, as also a portion of a pile of SOd
chaldron* ©^Liverpool cool on the wharf, tbo pro

bavo also been more or le** ii\ ur d.
Tho Schooner Mr dor a was tbo property of Co’.
R. J. Arnold, of Bryan County, valued about $3,000,
and wo regret to learn, not insured. Two men on
boar! at tbo time endeavoured to loose her frum her
mooring., but before tbo could bo got ailrift, they
were compelled by thu flame* to desert her, in one
of tilts boats. She was afterwards scuttled and when
our informant left her had been burnt to tbo water’s
edge. The mill was fortunately preserved.
Whilo tho second building wa* in flame*, and be
fore engines could bo carried across tho river, tho
alarm was again sounded and when we reached tho
•rear, tho old building on Reynolds square, on the
lot known as tho old iilituro lot was in flame*, tho
r>of haying caught from a spark wafted several
hundred yard* across'the river, which Igniting like
tin ier threatened a *crlou* conflagration. The en
gines were however on tbo spot, and though the
Aemcnt was very obstinate, by tho timely aid of
water well directed by tho Fireman, and by tho
exertions of many citizens, the Are was arrested, af
ter destroying the d-nihlc tenement, wooden build
ing occupied by Mr*. Russell, a* a boarding house,
and by Mr*. Austin, and exteuding to a small dou
ble tenement also of wood on St. Julian Street, oc-
copied by Mr*. Johns nr.d Mr. P. Cartier, which
was totally continued with out building* on the lot.
Tho largo building owned by Mr. Thnm'i* Clark,-
and by Mr. Amos Scud Irr, wa* uml'T in»uranre,
