Dabney to Search
for Relatives
of Nicodemus
CINCINNATI. Ohio. Dec. 18 —
i ANP; Wendell Phillips Dabney,
astute editor of the Union, of this
city, received an interesting assign
ment Tuesday. when Probate
Judge William H. Lueders, ap
pointed him executor of the estate
of the late Nicodemus Jackson
Jackson or rather his estate had
suddenly become a matter of some
importance.
Prior to his death a week before,
few people seemed to know much
about Nicodemus Jackson, around
50. He was just a man about town,
more or less a bum about the
streets so far as any information
which has yet arisen would reveal.
He dressed in tatte/s. he ate his
meals at the city charity soup
house and generally was regarded
as a relic Thon a week ago he
grew ill, was taken to the charity
section of the General Hospital
and died While at the hospital s
bankbook was found, which show
ed that Mr. Jackson had $1 400 op
deposit His status in life changed
ut urue. The daily newspapers
mentioned the fact and the next
day “relatives" appeared in droves,
claiming to be "next of kin.”
Nicodemus must have lived
many lives to have been related to
ail the Jacksons and folk of other
monickers who appeared to lay
tender claim on him. and his Tht?
Probate Court was swamped, so
the judge selected an undertaker
himself, had the body buried and
appointed Editor Dabney to ad
minister the estate Mr Dabnev’s
f; lends say that he is fully capable
of as timing the role of Solomon
and deciding whose baby, Nico
demus was.
