Sec. 1. BE it enabled -ly the
Senate and Floufe of Reprefenta
thes of the Vrated States of Ame
rica, in Congrefs affemhled , 1 hat
there be added to the regiment
of artillertfls, two teachers of
mufic, whole pay, rations and
cloaJiing fhall be the lame as is
bv law allowed to the 'teachers
of mufic in the regiments of
infantry in the Ter vice of the
United States.
Sec. 2. And he it farther
trailed. That the Frefident of
the United Stares be, and he is
hereby authorifed ro appoint
one teacher or the French lan
guage, and one teacher of draw
ing, to be attached to the corps
of engineers, whole compenfa
tion fhall not ex. r c d the pay and
emolument of a captain in the

which law was revived and con

vear of our Lord one thouland
eight hundred and two, fhall be,

continued for the term of two
years, from the fourth day of
March next, and from thence
until the end of the next feffion
of Congrefs.

each ft ate, to make return of
the militia of the ftate to which
he belongs, with their aims,
accoutrements and ammunition,
agreeably to ihc clued ions of
the ad, to which this is an ad
dition, to the Prefidtnt of the
United States annually, on or
before the firft Monday in Jan
uary in each )ear ; and it fhall
be the dut) of the Secretary of
\\ ar, from time to time, to give
Inch diredions to the adjutant
generals of ti c militia, as (hall,
in his opinion, be neaffary to
produce an uniformity in the
laid returns, and he lhall Ly an

Monday of February, annually.

enrolled in die militia, fhall be
c( nftantly provided with aims,
accoutrements and ammunition,
agreeably to the dirtdion of

fhall be duly notified of his tn

warning to the citizens fo enrol
led, to attend a company, bat
talion, or regimental mullcr, or
trainii g, which fhall be accord
ing to the laws of the flate in
which it is given for that pur
pole, fhall be deemed a legal

Sec. 3. And he it further

officers provided for by the laid
ad, there (hall be, to the militia
of each ftate one quarter mailer
general, to each brigade one
quarter mafttr of brigade, and
to each regiment one chaplain.
