dk last Saturday, wirfeir iu the
regular order of appointment was ex
pected to last but two days.
The meeting from day today is gath
ering an impetus of religious interest
that promises much present and perma
nent good, and we earnestly trpst that
the church and her people may be re
vived, and that many outside of the
pale of the church* may be brought into
its outstretched arms and bo renewed
in the imago and likeness of the Sa
vior.
We areTequested to state that Mr,
Mcßride will preach for the people
of this place a few days so soon as the
meeting discontinues at Duharts.
Me s ug o! Gum mssioners,
Our readers will notice in oar columns
to-day that we have given the general
action of the Board ; the accounts or
dered paid, the distribution of the 100
per cent, tax, for county purposes, an 1
ail orders passed by them. The orders
are not copied in full from the minutc-s,
•bub their subetpum and Rearing are not
at all impaired by abrevlatioii. . It will
be, noticed that the Jury Serip of 1874
will be paid from bridge fund ; none of
the scrip of 1375 can be paid only from
the Jury fund until further action. Our
pauper list is increasing visibly. Hare
tofore 100 percent taxes has not been
nlKcient to meet the county expenses.
We trust it will be sufficient for all exi
gencies this year.

Dinner at Garvin’s Spring.
Some gentlemen went out to Garvin’s
Spring yesterday on a kind of social
fishing, fun hunting frolic. We are told
that :hj fish came up scarce, but that
theje -y*3 'plenty of full. Well that’s
cheap; 'arty&oJy 'that’s humbftsd

paying cash in advance for it. Wherev

of one or two others who went also and

tfisMig. An early'‘and liasty braie-kfast,
ne-iVeehed sand 'ual* n%.?' later
found us in the tangled brake, and in the
eathoring complications of luxuriant
cane. We reached, after enough labor
to start a-youthful brick kiln the fishing
ground. Imagine some of us now and
then taking an innocent red eye or
roach .‘Hn'out of the woL”. and ' imagine
the unnamed; fcnang im with hoes
•heavy laden. '■ • - -
This brought us to another enisode in
this trite narrative. We muddied the
little end of a laggoon left alone. This
was planned and better executed,
and while some of the party was in the
water stirring up the. mud in order to
make rise tiio finny tribe, the others
stood on the bank in painful anxiety
watching for'au ojjjrortunify to f trike an
unsuspecting minnow- on tie head. This
was a “forty acres and a mule” lesson.
Another incident in life's calendar of
countorfieits. In our efforts to get out of
these trifles, wecooned a log across the
river that was tco short by about five
yards. How we conquered this dilficulty
we are not disposed to say, not that we
care, but the boys insists on its not being
mentioned. Wc enjoyed our dinner of
fried fish, and ms le up our minds to try
ft again at some, luture day on a little
